Cleaning some Altro floors in a school today and i used BONAMAIN Deep cleaner..Floors came up like new. This is good gear. ;D

Chuffing expensive though! :o You would get the same result with virtually any other alkaline cleaner. I find British nova do some good stuff but Selden triple is also a good product

Yes is a bit expensive....but priced into the job. School was very impressed with results and have given me more floors to do. The floors were in the Art department and the floors were covered in paint etc. They had someone come and Deep clean them last year, and got nowhere near the same results. So im happy to keep using at the moment.

Hi guys,
I have not posted in a while as I was conscious of the fact that some of my posts seemed to be more self promotional rather than contributory to the discussion. I'd like to share my thoughts on this topic and I'm happy to answer any queries either publicly or privately.
When it comes to deep cleaning anti slip floors the majority of company's responsible for the cleaning are using high alkaline based floor cleaners which can and do cause detrimental damage to these surfaces. When these cleaners (high alkaline) are used on a regular basis the result is a chemical burning of the surface which over time leads to the yellow staining that we are all familiar with. This yellow staining is impossible to remove and leaves the floor very unsightly thus resulting in unhappy customers.
For many years I used high alkaline cleaners, since we switched to eco friendly products and developed our own concept for deep cleaning anti slip floors the results have spoken for themselves again and again. The cleaning result is significantly better and also over time the floor is never damaged.

So, are the products you use citrus based products? Also if they are as good as they sound why do altro recommend the products I have suggested when deep cleaning?

Bonamain from Bonasystems is an acidic product.
Although primarily designed for ceramic and porcelain tiles it is great at removing detergent residues.
With good contact time it can increase the coefficient of slip on tiled floors.

Tadgh,
I generally agree with what you say. However I think saying that all Alkaline cleaners will cause damage isnt completely accurate.
Look at the data sheet below.
I think more importantly its the lack of rinsing and neutralising of these products.
I also agree that colloidal micelles have their place and find them particularly useful on natural oils found in kitchen areas.
Recently I have tried a few of these products. Bio-Based, Restormate Nemesis, Solutions M-Power oil dispersant type products that have worked well in certain situations.

Hi, the products are derived from colloidal micelles technology, as you can see from other posts its becoming a more and more popular method of cleaning as they are far less agressive than the traditional harsh cleaning chemicals.
I can't speak for Altro personally but my guess would be that they simply are not aware of the new technologies out there. There are a lot of new options and while I have my own range I am a believer that the more companies using environmentally friendly cleaning solutions then the better for everyone.

Hi, I took a look at the msds sheet , I understand where your coming from but I personally believe that for cleaning anti slip floors you should use a product with a ph of between 7-9, the ph listed here is 12.8, I have used similar products over many years and always found them to cause detrimental damage. This is based on my own experiences, its something I think is important to highlight. The high alkaline based products tend to grind the soils into the surface and hence the reason they need to be deep cleaned. These below pictures are an example of soils being driven into the substrate and of what can be achieved with an environmentally friendlycleaning solution
