Hi guys need a little advice .
Will need to move my static tank and transfer hose soon, I currently use the large diameter hose but not guaranteed parking at new address.
Can I reduce my transfer hose to a normal garden.hose for a bit more range or will the reduction damage the pump in any way
I know it will take longer to fill but I can't store 50 meters of transfer hose

What size is the hose at the moment? I'm guessing the outlet from the pump is approx : 3/4" garden hose is 1/2" shouldn't be a problem you're only pumping to an open end anyway :)

Current hose is 25 mm internal

If its a big reduction as I found it put pressure on the hose fitting and I would think it would also put the same pressure on the pump .These transfer pumps are not made to work under pressure, hence the large hose they require.

Thanks guys

the plastic barb what screws into your pump where the tranfer hose connects to well Gardiners sell the same barb but fits stait onto garden type hose on a hose reel

Cheers will check that out , sounds like what I'm after

It should be fine there will be a bit more resistance for the pump but you're pumping to an open end.
Another solution is to get some fire hydrant hose and attach it to the end of the pump with a jubilee clip.
I use this method all the time at work it'll allow you to transfer the water faster because it's a bigger bore you can also roll it up quite small

I run garden hose from a wickes sub pump in my ibc to the van. Takes a while but works
