Post by: Ben Lugg on October 19, 2012, 09:10:06 pm
Hi , went to quote today to clean a large area of
herringbone wool carpet from a company called Alternative
Flooring.
It is a low profile wool carpet with a cross cross thread
Of i think hessian which is visable. Anybody come across
This one before and do you think bonneting will be a safe
Option.
Cheers Ben.

thats the one,
you'll get the usual contradictive advice on here, i put a thread up not long ago and it was a 50/50 split, do it/walk.

i walked. :-[

don't go near it with water, vac then sebo duo p or similar then vac the hell out of it as previously stated, this is only a surface clean and won't remove any deep stains like drink spills so make sure the customer is aware before starting, other than that it's a doddle  ;)

If my memory serves me correctly, Craftex came out with a product that was marketed as being able to clean these types of carpet. Essentially is was an encap product in a foamer bottle. Not cheap and it was a small bottle too.

So what about a sprayer with a hole in it and a normal encap product?

Customer knows limitations so may go in with the sebo and duo p
Thanks for your help

You could apply mpower or nemesis first apply by a fine mist in the air approx 12 inches above the carpet and let it settle on the carpet then apply compound nice soft brushes on the crb nice long dwell and a bloody long time vacuuming.

Save yourself some money and get a tub of Dry Carpet Powder from Solutions. Cheaper, and better, than Duo Powder.

I'd agree with Adrian the sebo powder is synthetic and not as absorbent but it does vacuum out of carpets easier and dries faster.
