Title: Traditional way of cleaning windows
Post by: D4ch0l on October 18, 2012, 04:19:27 pm
I run small cleaning company part time, because at the time things are going I wouldn't be able to afford quitting my current job. I was thinking about adding window cleaning services to what I already do, but as mentioned I will be doing it in a  traditional way, using squeegees and soapy water. Therefore, I have few questions.

1.Is there any legal requirement when it comes to using a ladder? I have heard that, there must be two people, one to secure the ladder. Is that true?

2. What is the best solution to clean the windows? I was thinking about water, vinegar and washing up liquid...

3. What is the most basic kit I will need, so I don't buy things I will never use.

4. When it comes to water fed poles, what people do to prevent water from leaving waterstains on the windows? Is it some sort of chemicals or filter installed at the tank?

Any help will be much appreciated

Thanks, Adam

The regulations when using ladders are covered by the " working at heights regulations (2005) "

In summary it is this . . . . . . When can ladders be used?

Ladders can be used if after assessing the risks the use of more suitable work equipment is not justified because of the low risk and short duration.

Short duration is taken to be between 15 and 30 minutes depending upon the task.

Yup.

Use the 'search' button.

Sorry to sound rude but it's not complex.

If Adam goes on that website he'll need to go through the list and read what's written which is exactly the same as he'd have to do this website. So he may as well invest some of his time first to at least get an idea before expecting forum members to spend their time replying.

I don't mean this to sound rude. What Adam seems to want is the answers with no effort from himself.
