I started using swimming pool and pond hose a few years back, does not look as robust as the genuine carpet cleaning hose but they have lasted longer! Carpet cleaning hose as with most carpet cleaning parts are a complete ripoff, i still can not believe how much some wands go for, i would luv to know what margin they make on them.

Don't, the black will come off on your pre-sprayed carpet. On most of them will, there might be odd exception.
Just had an issue myself on a flood job. We had to park quite away from the building as the carpark was washed out. I have a 100' foot of that black hose on a reel which we use for pressure washing. Unfortunately the lads also used the same hose for cleaning the carpets instead of adding the blue hose to the end. Resulting in black lines everywhere which were a nightmare to remove. Thought they would just extract out with the carpet being damp but would they hell. Had to use solvent to shift them in the end.
