Title: protecting seagrass
Post by: Karl Wildey on January 30, 2006, 11:32:50 am
Had an enquiry today to protect seagrass carpet.
I would never use a water based protector on seagrass but could you use a solvent based one like guardsman?
Can you even protect seagrass?
any advice

Hi Karl,

Protectors work by altering the surface tension so that spills don't wet out in the same way, so this should help on any absorbent fibre.

I would agree with using a solvent based protector ,  but would probably apply it at double the recommended concentration to take account of the absorbency.

Cheers

Doug

Its because it costs a fortune that you can tell customers they need to get it protected.  Its worked for me so far.  When they get a stain on it they will soon realise they bought the wrong thing!!
