Just need some advise regarding installing a bypass from my prowler 13hp to my water tank, i understand that the front bypass can be re directed back to my fresh water to help the system from dumping hot water.
Has anyone gone a step further and re directed the hot water (dump) from the dema valve and the return from the pump head (the one which drips water out of the exhaust) back to the fresh water tanks as well?
The reason i am thinking about doing this is to conserve much needed water as i only have a 125lt tank and every drop of water is valuable.
Next question... i cleaned some upholstery today using my prowler and CFR tool, i find it difficult to get hot water to the tool as most of the hot water ends up getting dumped probably due to the flow rate being restricted by the small nozzle at the CFR tool.
Has anyone found a better nozzle to use with the prowler in order to increase flow and temperature to the tools?
Cheers

I have all the jet options for the cfr tool. If I get the chance Monday I will have a play around and see which one suits the prowler the most with that tool.

Read this topic and thought you were talking about Jimmy Saville ;D
-
Russ if you bypass from the front to the fresh tank and leave this slightly open then it shouldn't dump water unless the fresh tank gets really hot which will take hours.
-
By the way did you know Jimmy Saville used to be a carpet cleaner,,,, well a rug cleaner :-[

Now then.. now then!!!
John in your opinion what would be the best nozzle to use for cleaning upholstery with the prowler? finding it really hard to get hot water to the tool
Also are the fittings required to make a bypass all 1/4 thread ?
Cheers

I have the same problem with my Boxer TM. I use the red jet.
I dont think its the jet rather the stop start procedure of cleaning upholstery in that the water isnt flowing long enough to keep hot. A bypass as suggested should help or bleed into a bucket until hot and then clean all the cushions in one go.

The red jet is a 01 which is the smallest hole available for the CFR tools, very low flow... with all this back pressure i guess it would be difficult for any TM to deliver a steady flow of hot water to the jet.
I guess the only way to ensure hot water is sent down the solution line and not dumped is to either fit a bleed off valve close to the tool to keep the flow rate or to use a jet with a larger hole.
Either way i guess you will end up using more water than is required... so you end up at square 1 questioning whether to just use a portable for upholstery cleaning!

I use a drimaster 1 and get very hot water due to the constant large flow
-
But in order to get constant high flow you end up using loads more water don't you?
-
In a word yes!
I've had dm1, dm2 and the sapphire and to keep the water hot you have to let it flow as your tm will dump or it he water will stay in the solution pipe and cool down when not triggered.
I use a cfr because I like it but the same applies but with no flow control I get warm water most of the work I do is preparation with hot pre sprays although hot water would clean/rinse quicker.

Hey Shaun
Done a little experiment today...
Use a hand tool with a 0.3 nozzle and this made a huge difference to the flow rate, the water to the tool was hotter as it could physically travel from the HX quicker down the hose, i have also installed a bypass return hose back to the tank... this now allows me to release heated water from the HX back to the fresh water tank which should help to avoid dumping and wasting the water.
-
I've used that before but didn't like the dampness in comparison.

What im planning Shaun is to re jet my CFR tool to increase flow... i hardly ever use a open jet tool.. only on stairs
-
I use the cfr with 02 jet size. Prep all cushions then rinse. No problems with hot water using my Woodbridge pro 20.
Truckmount dumps hot water back into fresh water tank.
1 tank lasts all day

What is the procedure to get tm to dump into fresh water tank?
-
Ash, divert it to dump into fresh tank..........................take hose from dump bypass to fresh tank instead of to waste tank, simples :)
-
I'll have a look tomorrow. How do you get it fed into the fresh tank, is it a matter or drilling a new hole?
-
Yes , drill a hole unless you can find another way in?
I cut the dump pipe in half and fitted brass Q D so I can choose to either dump hot water into dirty water tank or fresh water tank
-
Thats the best way or you can just hook it up to your filler inlet. If you use hozelock type fittings you can easily connect and disconnect.

Cheers gents, I'll have a look tomorrow and see what the options are.
