Had a nice gutter fascia sofitt job booked in this morning.
Gets there 10am sun is shining 8) :)
Gets the front done no problem moves onto the first side and just doing the final wipe when my brush just touches the link drainpipe from the front gutters to side downpipe and down comes crashing the linkpipe ... kinda in slow motion as its hits the drive and the end cracks off :( :(
Then it starts to rain ... not a little but massive rainfall ... knocks on door and tells customer im off to Jewsons to replace the damaged drainpipe ... hes fine with it and thanks me for being honest about it.
Jewson bloke says yup got that size in stock ... there you go £15 =vat for 2.5 metres as shortest lenght they sell it in .. drives back and cuts it to length .. up ladder in hissing down rain and gets even more soaked from water hissing outta gutter all over my arms ... new drainpipe wont fit ...... :o :o
Off to another builders merchants .. yup got that size mate ... trys it .. too big again !!!
Off to B and Q ... same thing too big ... looks at label on B and Q pipe says 65mm .... the damaged one is 62mm so typical aint it my customer has a weird size.
Gets back to job tells him situation ref sizes ... luckily hes ok about.
Finshed job ... soaking wet thru ... I refuse to take payment till ive fixed his gutter.
Found a local stockist after google searching.
Not a good day :(

What do you do if you break one? I haven't broken one yet but would like to know how to go about sorting it out if I do.

If you knock the finial (the thing like an old railway signal post top/spike thingy) you can sometimes get away with lightly gaffering it to a pole and re-placing it and pull downwards to free it from the gaffer tape.
Sometimes a bit of white or transparent mastic under the base of it helps before attempting to refit.
