Post by: robertphil on October 13, 2012, 08:05:47 am

its not a daft reason! you are thanking them for there custom. Sounds like you have some nice workers there if they are taking the mick out of you for saying thank you. Do they normally not act in a polite way? lol  ;)

well "thank you "makes sense but "thanking you  " doesnt sound right now im thinking about it . my workers say thank you but have also started saying on the thanking you  recently and mickey taking only happens when we are laughing and joking towards the days end. i guess its flattering if they are copying me anyway

I knock on door and say all "all done Mrs Jones" get the money and say thanks / cheers / cheers mate / cheers pal - if theyre Scottish / ................. just depends on the customer as all different but use theyre name when ever possible.

oh and listen out for the "is it still the £12 ?" ............................. price rise coming to your area soon  ;D

Depends on the customer. Sometimes it's cheers or thanks.

I have one customer who always gives me a cheque.  The other week she gave me cash as she couldn't find her cheque book. I held the note up to the light as if I was checking it and said I'm going to frame this.  She called me a cheeky git whilst she was laughing.

I find most of the time the just passed during conversation

I'm not sure if it's %100 OK or not  but it's been working fine for these six years;

First;

- All done,nice and clean again (smiling). After;

If they are handing over cash,i say

- That's lovely,thank you,see you next time.

If it's a cheque,i have quick look at it and say

- That's perfect,thank you,see you next time.

i tend to say 'great stuff',  or 'fabulous' or something.  i try and make a point of not saying thank you, becuase they are giving you money for a service that they request.  If you say thankyou i think you sound a bit like a charity case and i dont want my customers to pity but, but be grateful for me coming round

I ask them to hurry up, as I have to get home and log on to a cleaning forum, to learn some basic social skills  ;D.

I tend just to say thanks and see you next time.
What I'm thinking is its taken you so long to come to the door and then go back into the house to find the key to open it, only then to leave me there while you go back to find the money. Time is money luv/mate.
