right my system is working just how I like it except for the title, it leaks like a sieve ??? can it be sorted or do I need a new one or is their a better alternative, the threaded part is fine, it is the swivel that leaks
-
No....we tried everything to repair the elbow, but we had to buy a new one

ta gazza, I seem to remember the reel came with a straight connector as well, just wondered if that was any good as I will still have it somewhere
-
Mines exactly the same mate - right pain in the arse
Gardiners are a bit cheaper I think?

Yes the straight ones are ok to use. the elbow simply gives the hose and reel more flexibility.
-
jimmy saville buggered mine too ;D ;D ;D
-
thanks marko and gazza
I will look for the straight one and if I can't find it gardiners it is, I am sure that is where the reel came from anyway
-
Inside there is an "O" ring, but it is not the sanme size as a standard hozelock one. If you can find the right size you should be able to repair it.
-
This must be the straight one you mean?
I might give a try also :)

i would stick with the swivel one, the straight one i had always twisted the hose.
i think mine was £7 off ebay

Problem with the straight one is that the hozelock fitting that goes on to it soon starts to wear, then the reel centre fitting itself wears. This is because when you reel out/in the centre is spinning inside the hose fitting. In a very short time this leaks badly, then starts to spring off every time you pull the hose off the reel. There was a lot of complaints about this over on another forum some years ago, which is when the suppliers started fitting and recommending the elbow because the hose doesn't spin on this.

For a straight, use a hozelock pro with a brass female. The brass female has ball bearings and with a bit of vaseline is leak free and lasts ages.

just fitted the straight that came with the reel 2 years ago and it is leak free again :D
I will order another swivel though unless I can find o rings to repair
cheers lads and my air lock have gone and now got the fast flow I like again
