Title: mobilenumber
Post by: 4S Cleaning on October 10, 2012, 06:37:04 pm
I was thinking of giving my number to custards, but then thought I might get not today texts, also alot easier for custard to sack over the phone than to your face, so think I'll give it a miss and just take a chance on access, what do the rest of you think

Custys have both my numbers and email . so if they need to contact me for any reason using any method they can never had a custy cancel me via text . Mike

I take you don't advertise anywhere then?
How do new customers get hold of you?
Do you leave envelopes when the customers aren't in? If so, surely they have your contact details on?

The point is, if someone wants to get hold of you they will mate - you won't stay invisible for long  ;D

Cheers  :)

Give them your mobile number. If they cancel 'not today thank you' they may have a genuine reason, so you can just reschedule. And why would they want to sack you? They will anyway if it's on your mobile or face to face. All sounds a bit odd!

I get calls daily on my mobile with new customers...why wouldnt you want to hand it out?

I bet youve missed loads of calls (and new customers) not giving it out.

Nope don't advertise, just starting up still just a weekend windy, will get customers by knocking doors I. Will have 277 custys end of December due to purchasing rounds from my cousin who has far too much work.
I probably worded the op wrongly, trying to gauge if it would be advantageous to give customers my number

Why not spend some more time working with your cousin and see how he works? Sounds like he's doing ok.

Most on here are driving round with numbers blazing out wherever they can!
Plus websites , Yellow Pages, free Internet sites etc.
Why would you not want people to get in contact with you when you are in business?

Would you want the mobile of your window cleaner if you had one? I'm going to have to go and start drinking heavily LOL!

Seriously, there is some good advice on here, but you have to chose whether or not you want to listen to it, or accept it. It seems like you've made your mind up not to give out your mobile number so that's fine. Don't get upset about other people having a bit of banter or a bit of fun cause that's what it's all about. Read between the lines, think about what advice is good and bad and make up your own mind as to how to make you business better. Personally, I think this site is great, the advice I have taken on board is invaluable and I genuinely wish you all the best.

Get a cheap basic phone and pop a PAYG sim in it.  Have it on when you're 'working' and turn it off when you want a bit of peace.

If it proves worthwhile then when you opt for a contract simply port the number over.

listen to your cousin mate,

I do give my number out and advertise, but I can see the advantage of not doing with the type of round you will have, it works for umpteen window cleaners round my way with good compact rounds ;)

Amazing. The advice given is for free and the person asking for advice tells those who give it freely to 'forget it'. So nice of him to say thank you before he went.

I didn't realise that the only things that ever, ever, ever get posted on here are wise cracks by smartarses.

Bye bye 4S Cleaning. Have a great time finding your own way.

Why would I want to give my customers your number , just because I don't have my number out does not mean  you would offer a better service does it , this is example of bad advise

Just had a perfect example of why it's good to give out your phone number.

It's raining here and it's too heavy to work in.

A customer guessed I wouldn't be working and just phoned to ask if I could clean all the inside glass this afternoon.

true i never said it was a mistake to give number out , but for me i dont like to , but then you get daft answers  like pass details of your customers to  someone  ??? i under what 4s cleaning was saying he asked for advice ang got some nonsence i too myself in the past asked for advice and get daft answers , true like as been said you have to pick out good advice from idiots,  but i think why not just advise people with good advise

What you playing at give them your mobile number, as its like your office phone and you could be missing vital new clients or new commercial work.

People will sack you if you are not doing a good job or regular so why worry if they sack you. As one customer goes another one will soon follow to require your great service.

So be positive and let them have it and happy days :-)
