I'm trying to see the difference in th flow speeds.
I have the esr16 or whatever it's called now - that has a flow controller I always use on 1 or 2 out of 5.
With the ws18 not having a controller and being one speed, I'm try into work out if its gonna push a load of water through to fast compared to the flow stated above on the esr16 ...
Anyone who has both and can give me any advice on this that would be great cheers.

Get someone with the 16 to empty it from full and time it, you do the same.
It will tell you if the ws18 is faster or slower.

They all have the same pump and run at 65/70 psi and 2.6 liters a min.I have found after using a back pack for 4 years you will need more water on the glass at time on first cleans. But they are up to the job.

Chees guys, just to make it clear been a wc for over 10 yrs so I know about water on first cleans etc... All I'm thinking is as the ws18 as no flow controller will it empty to quick compard to the other bp with a controller ...

get a tap for flow control. i have had the ws18 b/p for over a year no problems at all.
-
ive got a ws18 and i made a return for the pack so ican reduce the flow
going to the brush otherwise it wont last five mins
-
I have a few spare gardiners flow tap things, just wondering it that would effect the pu p doing this?
Gary - so it does use water pretty quick then? High flow rate?

Contact John Hewett, he will answer all your questions and suggest any modifications re flow control.

all you need is a y connector to spur off the back pack hose 1 piece of tubing off the
y connector twisting round the back pack hose to the lid where you connect the other end
of tube.
the other piece of tubing is your pole hose it has no effect on the pump it will still be working
corectly and not cycling its just not all the water is going up to the brush
the pumps are 2.6 ltres per min so you wont get long if you dont make this alteration
ive become quite adept at varying the flow by adding a loop and how tight i twist the
tubing round the backpack hose
-
so you mean Y connector onto backpack hose then 1 piece of hose on Y connector leading to lid of b/p & back into backpack? so some water goes up hose but some goes back into backpack. is this right or am i confusing you.?

yep spot on you control the flow by winding the tubing down the backpack hose
create a loop part way down the flow changes at the brush to how tight or loose
you have the loop.
really simple and works a treat

the loop is like a flow control dial how small or large the loop is determines how much flow goes to the brush and how much to the pack.
-
ok cheers. sorry for all the questions. just need to work out how to get hose through b/p lid.
-
have you got a ws pack if you have you can take the little valve thingymjob off
the lid and the hose fits perfectly.
if you have another type you can drill a small hole in lid or thre shoulder of the pack and attach a little 7mm hoselock
irrigation tap then you wont need the loop as you will be able to alter the flow using the tap.
i used to use these but im a clumsy bugger and kept knocking them off ;D
-
yes ws 18 the black thingy in the middle of lid perfect. cheers

just tried this cant get water to the pole. ??? waters going straight into backpack. ??? ???

either lenghten hose going back into pack, make a loop put a kink in it
so the ability of the water to flow back to pACK IS REDUCED or get a 7mm
irrigation tap fitting from b&q that will do the same thing
