tell her its £40 8 wkly or not at all you cant be messing round like that mate. did she squeak when she walked?
if you let her have her way i bet you end up being there just as long as the £40 clean while she wanders round deciding which 5 windows she wants you to clean!!
-
dump
oh you cant its not yours yet.....avoid,that will do
-
havnt spoke to her in person only on the phone. they have a porsche on the drive and still think £40 over 8 weeks is alot of money.
-
AVOID AVOID AVOID or just avoid, whatever you do just avoid ;) let it be some one elses problem

You have given a fair quote, if they don't want to take it then don't bother.
Tight gits ;D
-
£50/£60 first clean and then £40/£50 there after. No messing, all or nothing.
Not worth the hassle having her walking you round picking the windows, then you have to remember the ones she said, when your done she will some out and say she wanted the ones you havent done cleaning and not the ones you have.
8 bed house, nice cars and thinks £40 is steep .... your going to get nothing but hassle off this one
-
£45 every 2 months ALL windows, frames, sills, doors every time........take it or leave it missus!
some people just take the pee!they can afford it!or they can keep the numpty who does a crap job for £12-50! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D

£12. 50 no wonder he turned up when he wanted to .he reilised he under priced it .£40 not to bad if you r wfp .ask them did they want frames done as thats xtra .tell her its the same price if she wants 20 or all windows done .nothing worse than when u go next time n she says i only want 10 windows done will that be a fiver . dont let them dictate to you . you are the BOSS .
-
£40 is all in, frames sills etc included in price
-
AVOID AVOID AVOID or just avoid, whatever you do just avoid ;) let it be some one elses problem
step 1... Do the above ^. Then if you start to think about doing the job again, return to step one! and repeat! ;D

Customers like that who pick and choose which and how they want their windows cleaned usually end up being a right pain and it's not like they cannot afford the money.
I've also found that with those types of jobs often it becomes a sort of 'control' thing by the customer.
My advice is to 'pre dump'.

No, well yes, but, no but CIU rules state that in such circumstances 'dumping' is the only acceptable action but as the customer isn't yet an official customer, the proper term must be 'pre dump'.

Why not explain that you will clean just5 windows each vistit, but its still £40.00 ;D

Agreed. We're not plumbers charging £2K for a job.
-
i agree with Dazmond, do a good job for them at a decent price then they cant complain about your work. If you do it as cheap as they want they want, you will rush it and cut corners at best, they will then complain that your work is crap and possibly give you a bad rep.
Dont fall for these people - no one will do 57 windows for £12.50 (unless i read that wrong) but anyway, no one will do an 8 bedroom house for £12.50 they are just trying it on to me - full of their own omportance the f%^$£*g arsoles.
-
I would strongly suggest getting them on standing order ONLY and only cleaning when the £40 lands in your account. ;)

I had one bloke ask me in the street to go around to his as the old window cleaner was unreliable and just turned up every now and again.
Average house but with a massive conny which had 20 windows in it.
Had a look around and went to door to give price of £16 (yup underpriced I know but was still a newbie back then) but before I could give him my price he started with the old windie charged £8 and he wasnt prepared to pay more than a tenner !!!!!!!!! ...... told him £16 was my quote ........... then he got all high horse telling me the job was only worth a tenner but to make the "deal" better he would allow me to clean his conny roof twice a year for an extra fiver !!!!!!
just said gee thanks but not for me and suggested if the job was only worth a tenner then perhaps he may like to do it himself. ......... oh and he had 2 top of the range mercs on the drive which were easily worth 100 grand plus.
Some folk with money think they are superior to everyone else ...... he reminded me on the Harry Enfield character with a brummy accent who was rich and superior.

Which is code for: I'll have you clean which, when and where I decide.
Forget it and run !

Min charge £15 this gets 10 windows cleaned, then each additional
£1 per window , £1.50
Per patio door and bays etc
I would charge £50 for regular clean min . Or £75 once a year
-
I would have asked where the '£12.50 guy' is, and recommend that she gets him back as you can't make a living doing that much work for so little.
I have just quoted up two large detached houses, next door to each other. One has 40 windows and the other 32. Quoted 60 euro and 50 euro respectively. Both accepted straight away, and the latter sounded delighted (quoted over the phone, but I had seen and walked around the place).
57 windows would cost them 85 euro (approx £64) if they wanted me.

Sounds like one I went to see a couple of months back. Similar sized house and they must have had £300k of cars on the drive. Bentley, AMG Mercs etc. As she was showing me the house, she explained that the current wc came when he wanted to, she wants someone to come when she wants them?
Alarm bells ringing and I qouted £60 every six or eight weeks. Didn't get the job but I think that's the best outcome for me on that one

£150
