standing order
hi they how do you get people to sign upto it ???
-
ask them... then they can either go to the bank and do it with your details / set it up online / set it up on the phone / someone has a standing order form you can get them to sign and then send to the bank
-
most people do internet banking they just log on and set it up
-
Internet banking is so simple no need for standing orders unless they are something like holiday lets when the customer doesnt live there
-
Standing orders take the hassle out of it though.
Ive customers who asked to do standing orders because they would rather set it up and leave it running than have to remember to do it every time you have cleaned the windows.
I offer both standing orders and bank transfer - leave it up to the customer

The problem with SOs is that they are monthy, but I am 4 or 8 weekly.
-
You can set up regular payment of any frequency with Santander Internet banking. Im sure this is possible with most other banks too
-
Never really liked the idea of custys wanting to set up standing orders , As if you go on holiday for 2 wks or get behind because of illness or bad weather .
Then you are in debt to custys and have to make sure you get them caught up but surely things will be complicated if any of the above reasons happen . Mike

I give the customers a SO price and a 'per visit' price. I explain they will get 10 visits a year and do the maths for them. They get a slight discount by doing SO over the year.
It all works out in the end, George simply credits them on the SO date.

Hi you just have to give sort code and bank account no easier

you can/they can do 4 weekly
failing that you miss them out once in the winter

This is the problem I have with them. BACS is best.
-
standing orders can be set up for any time period you select ... your thinking direct debits carl2009

Nope i'm not. I have custies who have tried to set up SO's for 4 weekly and 8 weekly and both were not allowed by the bank.

Bacs is best, your right.
I have got customers that pay 4 weekly s/o
One of my 8 weekly customers could not set up an 8 weekly s/o for £18.00 but set up a 4 weekly s/o for £9.00
Where there's a will there's a way

Different banks do have different rules as regards setting up time/dates for Standing Orders
you will just have to ask the customer to enquire
Bacs is fine if the client is disciplined enough to do it within a time period otherwise it ends up like collecting cash as you go back to remind them
To me Standing orders take the hassle away if you do miss them out because of illness you can always offer a Internal clean at the time of the next external clean and that balances it out.
And as i mentioned before if they pay monthly and you clean weekly you can miss them out once in the winter and that will balance things out
