Title: heater for van
Post by: paul marshall on October 05, 2012, 04:35:41 pm: this will be my first winter , what do you all do about a heater in back of van , dont want to be fitting thermostas or anything , but i need to stop tank freezing somehow , was thinking of just trailing a plug to van and buying a convector heater from argos , but i dont fancy having that plugged in all night ,any ideas please

Post by: keen n clean on October 05, 2012, 05:19:26 pm: Hi........The way to go is little heater from argos,extension lead,outside plug (ideally) a timer (£3) and set it on to come on for 1/2 hour at 12 ish then same again at 3am and same again at 6 ish jobs a goodun ;) ;)

Post by: SB Cleaning on October 05, 2012, 05:24:41 pm: Just get an oiled filled radiator (1200-1800watts) , most come with thermostats built in, i usually wrap a couple of old blankets round my RO and tank too.

Works fine, don't use a rad coz they just radiate heat

Post by: William McCafferty on October 05, 2012, 06:58:15 pm: The other problem you might find is the roof of your van will collect condensation and this normally drops into my heaters in the night and trips the fuse, cutting off the heat and me having a frozen system in the morning. :-[

Post by: robert mitchell on October 06, 2012, 02:37:41 pm: I was thinking of a webasto ftom a rover 75 , heats up the cooling system then switches the van blower on to heat the van . The only worry is battery power , anybody had any experience of this ?

Post by: DaveG on October 07, 2012, 05:56:25 pm: I put an aquarium 300w heater in the tank, drain pump over night and put a little convector heater in van an hour before I go to work......works a treat :)

same here, me and sb have van mounted ro, i might add!
