Have you checked for airlocks ?
If not It will need new seals probabely. Not an expensive job.

Seriously though. £800. What pump is it?
-
Darren, email me and I'll put you in touch with a bit of an expert.
He does come on here and Cleantalk and has sorted my machine a couple of times. Not sure but the pump on yours is probably a Pumptec. He fixed my pump earlier this year and that's a Pumptec 600psi so worth a call.
-
Pump Motor £384+vat Pump Head £224+vat the complete pump on ebay at £400 ive been told the pump motor isnt powerfull enough to run the 500psi pump thats why its so cheap emailed the seller waiting for a reply already bought lots of gear of him.
-
Ian is it AJB what ever happens i wont be fixing it my self havent got a clue about things like that
-
Pumptec 500psi is £325 or pump head is £195 on ebay
-
Fran84 i no the pump your talking about like i said i was told the pump motor isnt powerfull enough the motor has to be 1/2 HP
-
Darren, odds are this is a part problem and can be sorted for way less than you think.
Email Trevor Ives:
trevor.ives@virgin.net
I'm sure he won't mind me passing his details on to a CC in need :)
-
Thanks Ian ive been meaning to get the pump serviced Amtech wanted £300 +carrige i thought i would be better just buying a new pump head the machine has been hammered for 4 years so was expecting to pay a few quid to get it sorted.
-
Humming noise normally indicates electric could it be the offset bearing ah Trevor Ives a name from the past worth contacting
One I done earlier

Jamie i seen that already,i spoke to Barry today about it will probably drive up on Monday and drop it of and Barry can have a look at it.
-
I have someone in paisley with a PFX that needs to come in for a motor. Want me to see if he will give you a few quid diesel money to bring his up too?
-
I would but ive got a truckmount in a swb Nissan Primastar only enough room for 1 porty
-
I can sort of see your thinking especially if you haven't got a clue with spanners. Get it done and get going, £800 in the grand scheme of things is not a lot of dough, it's just that you kind of know it's priced for carpet cleaners.
-
Takes quite a lot to knacker those big motors. If the pump is humming it sounds like the pump head has ceased.
-
Thats what iam hoping Simon i would be happy if its just the pump head as its been used heavily for nearly four years.
-
Broken cam bearing.
Simple to rectify, remove four allen bolts holding head to motor.
align bearing with hex hole to left of centre, place a long screwdriver
into hex hole angled down, and clout with hammer, once or twice
and bearing comes loose. Unscrew and replace with

Liberally grease and re-assemble in reverse order.
You dont even need to remove any hoses.

clout with hammer, once or twice
Is that the precise and technical method \//
;D ;D
-
The correct technical term is 'wallop' ;D
-
;D
-
Other technical terms are
give it some empo.
Give iiitttt some.
Give it some ommer.
Belt the B*stard.
Bash the f*ck out of it.
First rule of engineering, if it doesn't fit force it.
It you force it and it breaks it needed replacing anyway ;D
Contrary to what you may think this is the correct method as i was instructed by Amtech.
There is no way to lock the shaft.

I was taught the following engineering basics:
Does it Move? - Yes, Should it? - No - Duck Tape
Does it Move? - No, Should it? - Yes = WD40
Cable ties and insulating tape are optional extras.

Glad to see some well prepared engineers around ;D
-
Basically- if it moves oil it if it doesn't move paint it.
-
It'll be a pumphead replacement. You an do this yourself, very easy to do. Dont pay silly money for a tech to do it!! Your not a true scot if you like wasting money! ;D
Also worth buying a pressure valve repair kit. Again, cheap enough.
All of the above can be bought at CleanSmart.

Although this vid shoes how to service the pump. The fitting stage at the end will show you how it comes off/on.
-
Great video Jamie ive just bought the whole kit plus the cam bearing of ebay so will try and sort it myself.
-
If after replacing all of that lot it still hums and does nothing it will be the motor.
Only had 1 like that before but it was a fairly new machine and was done in wty.
