2nd time ive seen this problem, you can see where the sofa sits, as well as the rug. Carpet looks like its been burnt or something paranormal ::)
Its all over apart from where the furniture sits, here the colour is perfect?
-
Was it polly prop ? Had one last week with similar problem, never seen anything like it before
-
Could be fume fading.
Do they have a fire?
-
UV
-
No fire, too much and too dark for uv
-
Near a bus stop or busy main road?
-
I can see shaddow so plenty of light about for UV
-
Approx 100 metres from a busy road. Would uv make it go so dark?
-
Is it a wool mix?
I'd guess that one of the colour dyes is weak the darker dye then becomes more prominent or that the colour dye is weak and has changed in colour.

Uv damage.
Polyprop takes on a greenish tinge.
Nylon turns black eventually.
-
Synthetics can change colour pretty quick. I have a 5 floor building on yearly contract and the top floor has deep red carpets along the corridoors, most areas have changed colour to brown even the bottom end of the corridoor that has little light affecting it has brown dark edges. UV plays wierd tricks with pigments altering the colours both lighter and darker.
-
I would guess more towards polyprop Shaun
-
Yes polyprop.
-
I concur, UV damage. First time I saw it I was convinced it was soiling and would clean. Unfortunately I told the customer this too. Oops
-
Shaun, think thats 10 nil now ;) ;D

I agree with paul UV.
tell them to empty the room it will all go the same colour. ;D

Hi
Some times if the rug has a jute or hessian backing it can stain the carpet underneath not fading or uv damage I think it is the gases that the rug produces over time I read it some where can't remember where

Tbh the photo on my iPad doesn't look the best but I was talking to another cleaner today and he said that most would have said that it was a poly fibre and was an easy fix the way dave worded it was that it was a permanent hence me looking from a different angle ie wool mix.

Had a 100% poly loop cream carpet with brown fleck yesterday. On heavy wear area around the bed the brown fleck was a lot more dominant from wear and made those areas look browner and soiled.
