Title: Shock pricing today.
Post by: richard jagger on September 25, 2012, 04:48:18 pm
I was cleaning a 2 story house across the way from me was  another windy from my town him cleaning exactly the same size house. After I had completed my clean I went over to introduce myself, had a chat then I ash as a matter of interest how mush he was charging for the clean he said 6 quid. I nearly fell over as I have been cleaning in that area for 4 year have a large round there I just got 15 quid for the same house.
Just two seconds before he said he could not get more that the 6 quid he was paid.
This begs the answer are some just to fearful to charge.Or do not have the guts to charge due to poor self image to charge a good price. Or just lack the business acument  to understand there costs. This property has 8 large Georgian  window and two doors to clean. Even the beer money guys charge more.
Do folks not research  the business they are going into,as it is a money investment you can loose. I must say I was gob smacked.
What do you guys think and do you also come across this in your area?  ??? ??? ???

Yes I did as I would like him to go up in price. If we all go up the windy industry will benefit. If he tries to cut price me he will find my clients are to so easy to steal as I do a great job and have great interaction  with all of them. I am have a good connection with the upwardly mobile customers and enjoy there respect. I am not saying I am a snob but I can deal with it.

Unfortunately you cannot play the bills with anything else but money.I wish I could find more who would work for nothing, they can come work for me for nothing. IT would be great. I will give you all the life style and badges you will need to keep you happy. ??? ???

I;m in a pretty similar situation with my local tax dodger BobPlum.  he charges peanuts for his service.  i think in his case it's mostly low self esteem that does it.  poor fella  ;)

I have the same round my way ( dorset) I have a trad cleaner either side of the house I clean and he chrges £6.00 per house and I charge £18.00, using wfp, and he has two other people on with him too and I am still finished before them with no complaints from the custy either, and he used to clean the house I now do so it shows you can charge if you are doing a good job with good image

I'm still trad and I only use wfp for hard to reach windows and PVC doors
I was talking to a guy who uses wfp for tops and trads bottoms .

I was doing a house 2 doors from him I charge £15 I got talking to him and
He said he was only charging £8 and that is an exact same house .
I told him he could get more but he said he wasn't interested in getting anymore .

I told him he could get more but he said he wasn't interested in getting anymore .

He may as well do them for nothing then, eh? Whenever wcs say that, I just assume that they are shamed at their stupidity of not putting their prices up over the years.

i recently picked up a pair of new custys next door to each other i priced them up at £20 each at 8 weekly, the one custy gave me a bit of a telling off for charging too cheap and insisted that she pay £25 as she wanted to me to come back in 8 weeks, i was pretty shocked by this and it made me re think my prices!

yet i know of other windys charging a fiver, there was an add in a local shop saying prices from £3.50 per house,

charging cheap benefits no one, there are plenty of custys out there who want to pay good money for clean windows.

I love it when someone near me charges low prices.

I know that with in a few months they won't want to keep coming round for a pittance and I pick up some of their custies - usually the better ones.
