Title: selling staff to employment agencies
Post by: lisa123 on January 27, 2006, 10:45:33 am
Has anyone worked with employment agencies?
Not in the usual way of buying staff for your work, but selling staff to them for work, and charging them per hour for the privilage, in the hope that you will in the end cut them out and gain the client for yourself?
I sm registerd with some employment agencies and they have been ringing me up because they have cleaners jobs going, office and canteen type places daily work. I'm tempted to take on the work but if i stuck up a deal, they could always ring us if a cleaner job pops up.
what do you think?

Lisa,

You will find that Employment Agencies will tie you up with a Contract or Terms of Business that will not allow you to put your cleaners into a client at least 12 weeks after you have last put a cleaner into them for a specific client.

The reason I know this is because I own a driving agency and I have sub contracted some of my work out to other people/agencies.  I tie them into a sub contractors contract so they do not have the opportunity to "poach" my clients.

What you have suggested is not very ethical, but hey!

Yeah, thanks for the info.
I might try it in the week.
Do you target pubs, social clubs, office suites, etc like this
Cheers

try it everywhere lisa.

try estate agents first. if you can get in there, your laughing.

they will recommend you to their clients, for people buying and selling there homes. no one like's to move into a dirty home, offer a full clean service, perhaps mention a discount on the flyer.
but remember to add the price on before you take it off.

leave a few leaflets on there table for clients to pick up.
FREE ADVERTISING.

try solicitors, banks, bakers, clothes,etc.

happy telemarketing lisa, are you doing it yourself or are you getting your staff to do it for you?

I'll probably get a staff member to do it, then I'll go out and quote.

I have tried to contact my local cleaning services today to do some market research about current prices. Out of around 10 companies, only MY PHONE got answered.

I got my sis to ring around, and she thought she would ring me aswell, quite funny really.

But still none of the other comanies answered their phones on a saturday.  I would have thought that was one of the best days for clients to ring as they aren't at work or whatever. Oh well, At least my customers get though to me on a saturday.

it was only domestic cleaning in my catchment area.
I can't ever get hold of my local domestic cleaners, dont know how thier potential clients get hold of them if they dont answer phones, i have tried their websites and email addresses but they are unobtainable!
I have tested my prices on potential customers to gauge a reaction.

think you might have to try and get new staff lisa,
if they want the work, then they have to be available.
post a note to them.
have you mobile numbers?

thanks for your help lynn
If i do get an opportunity to quote, i'm going to have to ask for pricing help.
I have heard it is less money in commercial.
Do you have a ball park figue that you go by per hour per cleaner?

thanks yes very helpful.
I wouldn't have thought i'd get away with those prices on retail/office
My prices are on a sliding scale, so the more hours you buy the less per hour it is.
My domestic is around what you charge, again its on a sliding scale. I might upload my prices onto my website for retail/office and see i get any enquiries.
Have you visited my website? Do you think i'm too pricey?

Hi Ray
I have got my website listed on all kinds of web directories. Google adwords didnt work for me in my area.
I have a free ad on yell.com and that has given me a free linage ad in the yellow pages book for my area.
I have ads in the local paper aswell, but only had 1 phone call from that since december, and that was today!
i generally get some response from leaflets but i haven't put loads out yet. Approx 1000, got 3 phone calls and no sales as yet. but i am having 2,500 leaflets delivered per week soon so it might pick up a bit.
Email me ray if you wanna chat bout it.
