One spray Borg UK version ordered, can't wait to put to through its paces. Tests so far have been very positive indeed ;D
-
Paul
So you have only just found out :o anyway mums the word :-X
-
Is that the Orbot Sprayborg from Jeff at HOS?
If it is you have ordered a great machine, built like a tank, use in conjunction with Environ hp, Releasit or Surround with the tan and white pads.
I've been using mine for a year now for my commercial work and have been highly impressed.
-
Where do you find Jeff at HOS?
-
He got it from Jamie @ Cleaning Systems UK
-
Been encaping for the last 3 months with a 19" cimex , Releasit and fibreplus pads. What benefit would a Orbit have over my cimex? Nice bit of kit but £900 more than a cimex.
-
I found the Orbot by looking at carpet cleaning videos on YouTube, then went on to the HOS website through them.
I have a CR48 cimex myself and find the Orbot easier to throw in and out of the van as it folds to nothing also the Orbot can be used on domestic, where as big yella just won't go there. As for the quality of the two on commercial carpet you couldn't split them.
-
They are very similar machines all be it one is planetary and the other oscillating
The Orbot has better multi surface capabilities than the Cimex CR48 imo. and some future kit will improve this further.
The Orbot uses less product when encapping due to the sprayers.
Its lighter and folds up for transport.
The Cimex is still a great machine and I cant see us dropping it from our line up anytime in the near or distant future.
We are very pleased to have these available in the UK having first seem them a few years ago.
Its the only machine I have seen that combined the build quality and usuability of a Cimex and the productivity of our 50kg 20" Chemspec Rotobrite machines which have sadly been discontinued some time ago.
-
Mike I'm really disappointed that you have had one for a year as I wanted to do a Shaun Asmore........ And in a few years post..... Did you know I was the first person in the UK to have an Orbot ;D
-
Paul,
I wish that was the case, I can remember when I was trying to source any uk suppliers and found a supplier in Lymm Cheshire who had been selling them. So I know I wasn't the first.
But yeah anything to be like Shaun. ;)

Does yours have heat Mike?
-
I looked into the spray borq a year or so ago, but found out there was problems getting them CE marked hence why the then UK supplier stopped supplying them.
Nice to see them available again though.
-
They no longer have the heater. There is a plug there for it but it's unused.
It would have needed a second cable to get through CE approval I believe.
-
Amtech having selling them for a while now.

-
Mine has the heater and all works through one really chunky cable, never had any probs though.

Since last Saturday. We shipped them over together.
-
Well found Mark that'll save me having to order from the states next time!
-
Jamie,
There was a minibot like a Minitex are you getting that shipped over as well, it looks a quality but of kit.
-
Mike, that was at the CC Carnival, heavy bit of kit but looks pretty.
-
They are already available in the UK and a lot cheaper if you know where to look.
Only difference is the HOS has a black plastic part on the handle to keep the heads at the right angle.
-
Jamie
Forget (A tight fisted Yorkshireman) you may be dealing with me what your best price am sure there got to be a difference between both pounds ??? ;)
-
Jamie,
I can't find anything on google, can u give us an idea?
-
An introductory 10% is being offered Len.
I spoke with the importers of the mini machine a few months back then got involved with HOS and realised they had the same unit.
If its the small one you are after give me a call at the office and I will point you in the right direction.
-
I had an op machine sold it to Ash White last year but I wasnt the first Nick sold the first ones on WOC probably 4-5 years ago he also made his own Borg may be 2 years ago but previous to that Mike Halliday had an Oreck Lo Boy a comercial OP machine and I bet that could be 5-6 years ago, I even remember when Cleantalk first started a US cleaner had a design how to make a standard rotary into an OP machine.
History Lesson Over.
Shaun
-
I was the first person in the UK to buy an OP machine...
...from Shaun Ashmore
-
There was an old guy called Robert Meldrum who imported a reciprocating machine from the States about ten years ago ..........unfortunately there were no encap products around at that time and it failed to perform as well as expected and was eventually binned .
-
What did you use it with? Crystallising shampoo?
-
Mike does the heat make any difference?
-
I would love to spend a day with that old guy called robert meldrum if he would like a middle aged apprentise for a day ;D
Jim
-
Paul,
When I was buying it from Jeff he was in the process of phasing out the heat, however because I was going to all the trouble of importing I wanted everything with it.
Personally I always have the heat on (because I've got it) but I know nowadays the chemicals are so good and the machine agitates so well that you could get on fine without it .
-
Nice to speak to you today Mike.
-
You never say that to me Jamie
Shaun
-
That's because I would be lying ;)
-
Really looking forward to the borg arriving.
Jamie how are the tests going on hard floors
-
What did you use it with? Crystallising shampoo?
I used Argosheen Jamie which I liked but it's been superseded since.
It was the machine that was poor being far too light and it vibrated like a manic " rabbit " or so I'm told. ;D ;D
-
Yes you too Jamie, until I got attacked by my 21 month old boy!
-
How much is it, where do you get it from, why all the secrecy
Its just another machine after all.
-
No secrecy. I just cant post a link up as it would be advertising.
-
Really looking forward to the borg arriving.
Jamie how are the tests going on hard floors
Tile & grout cleaning went well.
So did the wood floor finishing.
Have a test on limestone tomorrow.
-
No secrecy. I just cant post a link up as it would be advertising.
I don't know, I think you are doing a pretty good at selling it. ;)
-
Dave Washbrook came to see me to day and was very impressed with my Borg ;D
-
I will have one with me in Manchester on Wednesday and Newcastle on Thursday next week for anyone who would like to have a nose at one.
-
Jamie
What are you DFS ;) 10% you’re having a laff were talking much more tighter than a Yorkshire man :D
Paul
Jury still out do we need it, partner says :'(yes I go for the logistics open spaces like commercial corridors ;)
Jamie
If you were near hayling island over the next few days I’d be there ;)
-
Jamie
What are you DFS
No, I actually have the items I sell in stock.
-
Your only an hour from Amtech!
-
Len, Amtech are doing a day showing the Borg on the 31st.
See the sponsors board.
-
Thad from Pioneer is hosting this day.
If you are into hard floor cleaning (or comic books) this guy is well worth talking too.
-
Hello All,
Haven't been around for a while, any more feed back on this machine?
I used to have a challenger OP, but sold it last year, but now i am looking back into this type of system.
Any one done any domestic with it, as I am about to head back into this market to help with cash flow, as commercial seems to be getting harder to get paid on time.
Thanks
Warwick

Been watching some vids of the spray borg, it does look great, but pricey at 2400 plus VAT then weights are 250 plus VAT but the one that I dont get is a cotton pad is 150 plus VAT!?
Prob looking at £3,400 with VAT and all the extra bits
But with the praise Paul gives it - it is tempting!!
Paul what Chem do you use?
-
That's for a pack of 10 pads.
-
Yep Craig its a pack of 10 pads but they are not like normal cotton bonnetts, they are much bigger and softer a bit like a thick bath towel.
I have been using 3 different encapps, Restormates Dynamall, Releasit and Environ. All 3 are superb and work well for me both on encapping and extraction also testing them out on upholstery too at the moment. Its early days on which im goning to settle with, probably all 3 ;D.
One thing i have made my mind up with though is that the encapp chems are so much better than the normal extraction/prespary chems i have been using so once my stock of conventional chems is used up im mainly going with encaps for the majority of my cleaning.
If your near CSUK or Amtec then try and get a demo with the Orbit it is a nice bit of kit and it LOOKS and cleans great ;)
-
Warwick,
I have done plenty of domestic with the Orbot and had no problems, it does come with gliders depending on length of pile which make it easier to manoeuvre, if you have a really small tight terrace house I'd choose a different method, though for 3 bed up you can't go wrong.
The Orbot does come with a hefty price tag but its such a versatile bit of kit, I can safely say after doing this work for 10 years its the best investment I've made, the sheer good looks of the thing will give you the confidence to charge more and when you show the customer the filthy pad they know the dirts gone.
After a year of hard graft it still works like new.
-
On low profile/commercial can it clean as good as a Truckmount, or ever better?
-
I don't own a truckmount so would not like to say, there is no wick back with this system and I know from portable use on low profile it's a nightmare for it.
-
Is the drive-board for the Orbot a porcupine type (stiff bristles), or small spikes like my rotary?
-
It's like a plastic Velcro if that helps.
-
On a tenuous link, I cleaned a nursery a few days ago which had a mix of wool carpets, glue down, and wool mix carpets.
I did the whole thing with a Cimex. The wool mix was in an office which had been converted from (I'm guessing) a bathroom, and had damp patches in several spots. The room was only about 4ft x 7ft, but it was in such a bad state that it didn't warrant getting the TM fired up just to do a carpet which was trashed anyway.
I doused it in Releasit (to finish what I had left in the sprayer), went over it with the Cimex, and left. I called the owner to say that this particular carpet was trashed and she agreed - neither of us realised how bad it was as it had previously been full of cardboard boxes.
Anyway, I went back there today to collect payment, poked my head into the 'office', and it was like a new carpet! I had to ask her if she had done anything to it, as I couldn't believe the difference. She said no, and she was pleasantly surprised herself how well it had come out, as she had been planning on replacing it.
The point is that this is not a carpet I would have normally considered hitting with a Cimex (wool mix berber), but the results were better than the commercial glue down in the next room. I can see why Paul says that from now on he's going to be mainly encap, the results are much better than you'd probably expect. I just wish I'd have taken a photo for my portfolio!
As an aside, I did 2 x large play rooms, and the small office in an hour - including pre-vac and packing away. HWE at a guess would have been 2 hours.
-
Good work ash. The new Encap products are the nuts and sometimes yes when the carpet dries out it looks better than when being cleaned! I would have gone for the cimex as well on that, the last great yellow hope, so to speak. I can't wait to get it out again, I've just bought some of the fibreplus pads from Jamie so want to get down and dirty with those bad boys.
-
The fibreplus pads are what I've been using. I've been flipping them over to extend the life, and they seem to have a decent lifespan.
-
Mike,
Thanks for the reply, I was more thinking of how the machine handles with the wheels.
As i said I used a Challenger for a few years, my ex business partner brought a few over from the states about 7 years ago, these were the ones that Solutions were given to sell, I used it them with Colloidal solutions ( Once again this was the original M-Power, but as with the machines I think there were payment problems from Solutions), At this time he also brought over some encap product which was ok but not great.
Since then all my work has been LM, I did look at the Borg a couple of years ago when another chap was selling them over here, but as has been mentioned, he had to withdraw them.
Have you or anyone else tried the Micro Borg hand tool?
Warwick ( Down with a stinking cold, sorry if post is not completely coherent )
-
Warwick,
It handles great, the wheels are really large so it goes up and down stairs no trouble. I can remember solutions doing their own OP with a sprayer attached, don't know what happened to it because its such a good idea. Like what has been said before the chemistry of Encap products now is what it's all about, so much so from when you were using your Challenger (great machine by the way), I think the companies that are making the Encap now have copied and even surpassed what Releasit had managed to do.
Get well soon, there's a lot of it about.
-
Paul, correct me if I'm wrong but are you saying that you going to use encap with you TM & for HWE??
Or have I read this wrong??
-
He is a bit wired like that ;D
-
Paul, correct me if I'm wrong but are you saying that you going to use encap with you TM & for HWE??

Yep, thats what he means, i know dynamall from restormate can be used in nearly all methods of carpet cleaning, and i'm sure release it can be, i expect John kelly and Jamie pearson will be along shortly to confirm this,
and i'm sure Dave means Paul is a bit weird like that, i'm sorry Dave you are wrong!!!!!!! >:(
He is really weird like that!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D

No billy he is really really wired like that ;D ;D ;D

;D ;D ;D
Great! So has anyone else tried encap with HWE?? Suppose I'll have to get JK to send some Dynamall up and give it a whirl.
Any pointers or tips from anyone using encap with there TM?
-
I used Releasit Hydrox on some upholstery last week, clean water rinse with hwe, came up excellent.
-
Chemspec Liquid High Heat is an encapsulation extraction product.
This would be my choice if I was using a traditional HWE method but wanted the advantage of encapsulation with the residual moisture.
The other Encap products can be used in an extractor however the only time I personally would use these was if I had a couple of areas on a larger commercial job that needed a rinse through so I had compatibility with my cleaner for the larger area.
