You can't remove old signwritting in the rain. You need a flow of warm air to make this job easier - a hairdrier is best as a hot air gun is too hot and could easily burn the paint (expensive repair).

If you have a diesel hot water steam pressure washer then this will also work.

I done a builders clean this morning starting at 7am. There comes a point where no matter what waterproofs you have on, you still end up soaked through.

Still, it was good money though and much to my surprise, the contractor paid me cash.

I'm in for a lazy day now as it's still tipping it down and even if the rain stops, there's very high winds forecast.

Another day off and I'm b-o-r-e-d.

Being next to the coast with chalk cliffs, the high winds just coat the glass in salt and chalk again within minutes of cleaning it off.

Hey Ian,

The weather is really bad isnt it.  We've got water pouring off fields onto the roads, and forming streams along the road!

Just wondering what you do with your helper when you stop work because of the rain?  Put him on enforced holiday leave?

Really really bad matey.

He is on 16 hours a week normally Mon / Tue but he is flexable so can be Wed / Thurs etc etc.

Dont beleive in zero hour contracts so long as they are flexable over days but works both ways eg if he wants a Monday off but wants to work say Tue / Wed then Im flexable too.
