Can anyone recommend a good basic payroll package?

The inland revenue do a free one called basic tools.

Thanks, ideally need something that works everything out,stores details and prints payslips.

Sage one does all that and more even sends info thru govt gateway to taxman if your registered with a gateway ID number.

I use payroo.com all free and very easy to use. Allows you to make payments to the hmrc etc, print payslips, p45, p60 everything you need as and employer.

I have used this for 5 years now and never had a problem
