Title: telescopic lance and wall washers
Post by: Kenny83 on September 20, 2012, 10:45:02 pm
Anyone use these? I bought one to put on my telescopic lance and it weighed a ton, plus the lance was bending like mad and was ready to snap
mines like this..
http://www.allpressuresprayersdirect.co.uk/high-pressure-telescopic-lances-with-turbo-devil-wall-cleaner

it says it's suitable for telscopic lances but after using it i beg to differ, I have one of the 7.3 metre lances that you seen often on ebay...
Does anyone use anything similar?
Can anyone recommend a good place to purchase a good one? thats stiff and light? one that would be suitable for a wall cleaner? I beleive some of you have carbon modified wfp's? whats the longest you guys use?
Thanks

I use an under vehicle lance which is at 90 degrees to the main lance for wall washing, but it can't really be used at full pressure, not unless you want to take off  ;D

Can't find the exact one I have but this should do the trick: -

Works a treat at the end of the same lance that you use and prevents blowing all the rubbish upwards. The initial kick and oppostie effect when pulling / loosing trigger take a bit of getting used to.

thanks for that Ian, i know what you mean with the kick, i have used nozzles mate, angled nozzles aswell, the reason i'm going down the surface cleaner route is to contain the spray so it just trickles down the wall intead of flying everywhere.

I can use my 9" fsc on the telescopic lance but I usually use either the turbo or fan nozzle on the slight bend end. I have the 165 degree bent end but have only used used it once to clean the top of a nitrogen vessel but I had a bloke turn up the revs after opening the trigger at tickover. I usually use the hook end on my small machine with a zero nozzle to unblock swan necks if I can't get there with a ladder.

Matt - I bought a cheaper one to see if they would be anygood, the whirlaways are the same weight, I'm now wondering if it's the pole that i need to upgrade?

BDCS - What pole do you use mate?

I have two, I have a giraffe which has a 22mm coupling and a 10mm quick fit. I also have a power pole that I bought with the Omni gutter vac kit which just has the quick fit but I have a saelection of spikes and nozzles to clear turf and blocked swans

How do you find the power pole? is it the alloy one? Is is lighter? stronger?
i have the girraffe too but found it gets very heavy and bendy, its the 7.3 meter

The power pole is the alloy one and it is quite heavy but quite stiff. The girafe is the shorter one but is still quite whippy and I really only ever use it  with the slight bend not the hook. The kick will depend on the nozzle - try a larger one or knock some revs off but pressure washing with a pole will always be a workout

yes, it is is a proper work out mate....
so by the sounds of it i would be better going for the more rigid alloy power pole to attatch my 12inch cleaner to it would you say?

Did you get any further with this? I might have a big cladding job coming up and wanted to use the small fsc and telescopic lance to clean it..

Did you end up buying a omnipole?

These seem to be just like the omni power poles, and they do carbon ones, ranging from £400 to 800, i have not yet bought one, although i do have the wall washer and its only 3 kg but that small weight transfer over the legnth of the pole (7.3m) must multiply by about 20 times it weight when you pick it up, i dont know how all these guys on the websites that sell get away with saying that they are compatible with the telescopic lance because believe me theyre not, although not tried the carbon or power poles so cant comment onm those, maybe they are more rigid?
