Title: NCCA to propose new membership structure
Post by: Bob Robertson on September 19, 2012, 07:53:11 pm
They are to propose a new structure from Associate Member, Member, Advance Member to Senior Member which will be down to years of continued membership and training  courses attended.

Although I can see the point of associate Membership for Industry Newcomers . If the rest of the structure depends on how long you have been a member I’m not so keen

Courses maybe but only to show you are competent at cleaning tiles for example

Like Clean Trust

In an essence the more education you get the better member you are this makes sense also more people on courses also makes Paul pearce richer ;D

The ncca are offering new ideas let's not knock it!

It just seems that the only people who care if you are in the NCCA are the NCCA members...

The public neither know nor care about it.... IMHO

Hector has hit the nail on the head. Your customers don't care if your a member, never mind if your a senior member.
When I was a member of the NCCA not one customer took the slightest bit of interest if I was a member or not.

Don't know what you lot are talking about, I'm chosen all the time for being a member.

I agree with Craigp, the amount of times i've been chosen above other cleaners because i'm part of the NCCA pays the membership 20 times over!

but everyone to there own i suppose

Customer internet searches for 'carpet cleaning in blahhh',
Customer finds pages of results,
scans first page,
sees lots of small cleaning businesses, many with low prices,
also sees a professional looking cleaning company with industry standard kitemarks and qualifications,
customer makes choice...

Which one would you like to be?

This is probably in response to criticism that anyone could start up, pass the exam and pass off as being a competent operator when in reality it takes a good few years to achieve that.
I think it is an excellant idea. Anything that can make this industry more professional has to be good.
In other industries and occupations you can't fart without having a peice of paper saying you've done a course on how to do it.

Hi guys

When we going to set up the CLEAN organisation, grades of membership was one of my proposals, reflecting the widely different skills of a one week CC, passed the exam done 2 jobs and a 25 year veteran.

Cheers

Doug

Your right John, I am fully qualified in the art of farting, if anybody would like to come on my training course, please let me know, Lunch is provided, Beans on Toast!!! I will provide a certificate at the end of the day, once a small test of competence has been completed

i was a member of the NCCA  for 10 years but never got a lot back, i agree with others that the general public have no clue who they are or what they do, promises of nationwide exposure never really came to light, since not renewing my membership last year, i have found that it has had absolutely no affect on job bookings, in fact this has been my best year so far to date, cant see the point in re joining until i feel it will benefit my business, just because ive dropped out of the NCCA  then it doesnt make me less qualified, does it, but im £250 better off..........that pays for a lovely weekend break.

Yeah there was a post by admin that we could not reply too, saying someone had won best van, but no picture!

Can someone upload a picture of the winning van please

I saw the van, and the company was called "Brighter Clean" (I think), with Colins sirname I was wondering if it was him.

Awesome layout, twin side loading doors with live vacuum and solution hoses, bespoke moulded plastic compartments holding all the accessories, pressure washer etc all neat and tidy. An OCD'ers wet dream, basically.

No it wasn't me, I didn't go.. But I think my van is pretty good anyhow, gets lots of work for the signage anyway

Colin is that loaded that he could buy a different van every week AND they'd fit on his driveway.
