Title: Under cutting why do it
Post by: Steve_c on September 12, 2012, 06:09:19 pm
Here in north west Hampshire( Andover) we have a company that are travelling up from Romsey to increase their coverage in Hampshire and obviously expand that's fair enough and why not, but why knock on doors to gain work and say we/i will do it cheaper than your currant window cleaner. I have been told this by several customers who  have stuck with me ;D The canvasser or the window cleaner even went back to one of my customers after being turned away and said we have picked up loads in this street and we will do your job for £12.00 :o christ almighty its a £20.00 pound job.
I know this happens all the time but why start you opening sentence "We will do it cheaper".

I just lost a £12.00 every other to an undercutter. Up and down bay at the front, PVC door, small bed window, pvc door at side, bathroom window and small window also at side, bays again at back, frosted small window, big sitting room window all to be done for £4.00. I think I was cheap!

LOL enjoy you trip to town mate. It doesn't matter who it is, just dont drive the prices down to gain work. They will have lots of work at cheap prices and make little profit.

Anyone who agrees to that much for £4 must have low expectations. The job was underpriced at £12 imho.

I do a largish house for £24, a canvasser offered to do it £15 but the customer very sensibly said 'what kind job will they do for £15?, not very good.
