I could possibly be in trouble with the Moderators for this , but I think it qualifies for talking about as I have not seen much discussion on the merits of entering this market.
And this has not continuously be spammed on here.
I have no connection with Ashbys and I ask you not to turn this into a slagging off post, over some problem incurred with pumps or misunderstanding their Guarantee.
Has anyone done the above course and what success have you had Marketing The Service ?
Does anyone actively promote Mattress Cleaning
What problems have you had providing the service
Any Advise on drying times etc.

Last week I was asked to clean two mattresses by a letting agents, (students houses), I use the term surface clean, because I cannot clean and kill mites deep in the padding. I don't promote mattress cleaning and if I am asked I tell them exactly what the result will be, however if this is a system that kills all mites, and stops them comming back, it's worth looking into, sounds interesting.
At the moment Ashby's have some very competitive prices for supplies :)
-
That sounds like a good idea to me however.....
The problem that I find with mattress cleans is...
You can kill all the mites, and make it sanitaryily (is that even a word??) clean
but the custard still expects all the stains to be gone as well, and you can be fighting a losing battle with them over it.
You know it is clean, but it does not look clean......
just my thoughts..
I have no beef to grind with Ashby's never dealt with them in my life ;D ;D

Plus Hector, have you ever tried putting a rotary onto a mattress?! :o

Getting pish stains out can mean reducers being used the the ethos changes with bronchial matters get rid of one problem to create another.
Gave up on mattress cleaning although if pestered will do one obviously I have to read them their rights first.

Hallo Ian,
I have not done the course yet, but booked myself onto it last week.
Reason being I do promote matress cleaning (to a degree) as I heve a whole web page devoted to it.
Idea being if I clean there matress well they will use me for other services (hopefully)
I find it can be a pain at times but probally about 50% clean up fairly well within a reasonable time span.
Use a CFR handtool set at 100psi or less to keep moisture to a minimun and use cleaning agents like browning solution mixed fairly strong so use less of it to also keep moisture to a minimum.
The main problem is getting good results and getting a decent price to make it wortwhile. Having said that the ones that are a pain and take longer than expected are balanced out by the remainder which take no time at all just to remove a tiny spill.
Am going on the course to improve skills and to potentially market the 'medic 'side of things.

I was asked to do a Mattress Clean in Cambridge where the house sitter had had sex on the owners mattress and then p.s.ed herself during the anti climax. The owner of the house was not best pleased .
The mattress clean itself was straight forward but there was a stain that would not come out
So I mixed peroxide and ammonia probably with another chemical and the entire stain began to smoke after a few seconds I applied water and low and behold the stain had gone.
I’ve never been able to replicate the trick

There you go then Ian....
You do smoke after sex :P :P
