Just started a new estate. Barratts 4 bed detached Houses around £400k about 10 years old. All UPVc Window, fascias etc
Been quoting £140 for Fascia, gutters, soffits clean for the whole house. Taking me around 4 hours each job. Does look like new after I have finished. Done 6 this week and more booked next week.
Confused because no one has queried the price and got loads of neighbours wanting theirs done. makes me think I am too cheap
Oh I also chuck in a window clean because of the mess after.
-
You are earning 35 pounds an hour, so I would say you have cracked it ;D
-
some will price higher....plenty do it for much less
4 hours though...are you cleaning by hand off ladders!! :)
-
Why not increase it until you get a rejection or two - if you're then prepared to drop to £140 (tell them it's "for cash", people love a bargain) you'll be no worse off.

Sounds good to me.... Time wise a little high, but speed comes with experience until you get to garry's age ;D
-
I am too cheap
No, mate, you are a precious human being; a miracle of existence; someone with capability to love and be loved; someone with a finite life span and every moment of being should be deeply cherished. You are not cheap!
Your prices sound okay to me though.

No all done with Gardiners WFP and backpack. Mix virosol in back pack thats it.

I am really fussy, maybe too fussy
But it seems to work. Getting an extra £10-15 most jobs because its looks so good
-
I would carry on as you are then....
Seems like a plan has come together here.... good un.. ;D

When it comes to questions about prices I think the only person that can really answer them is you
From Reading other posts on here there is definately a north south divide in terms of pricing
It can be a Little or a lot depending on the individual but it is there
What you're charging seems reasonable to me but might not be to someone else
Personnaly I would now stick with that price and add more on if you cLean them again and tell them the prices have now gone up and you also under quoted a little last time
The y will probably still have them done because you've been fair with them
It sounds like they are happy if they're tipping but the main thing is if you are happy with the money you get for the effort you put in
If you are then everyone is and that makes for rePeat business and that is exactly what you want
-
Hi tony
Are you doing inside the gutters or just the exterior
:)

Its hard graft but at £35 an hour I cant complain. If I can still charge £140 but do it in 3 hours than thats even better
-

Dean
Just doing the outsides. Would charge more if doing the inside. If theres a gutter going round he garage or a single storey extension, I empty that as only takes 5mins.
-
Thanks tony
Keep up the good work mate ;D

3 hours would be about right....using a customers outside tap knocks loads of time off
if its okay with them..loads of power and no refilling

How did you go about getting the work tony door knocking or leaflet dropping :)

Wish I could but doesnt get the finish I want. That why i use virosol first to get that perfect white clean look.

How did you go about getting the work tony door knocking or leaflet dropping :)
Dean
Leaflet drop start of the week. Follow up a few days later in the evenings or sat afternoons wearing smart clothes. Keep on until I have contacted every house I dropped. I keep records of the houses that are in/out
Thats how i get all my business as I have only been WC less than 3 months

Your prices sound okay to me though.
As no-one else seems to appreciate this gem, may I just say Tosh that your humanity and purity of spirit should be an inspiration to the rest of us lowly sinners and may we strive to attain a similar level of compassion as you have reached.

am i too cheap??? do two a day and you earn £280. thats £5600 every month mate. if thats too cheap then youre a greedy numpty!
-
Tony - first off good for you mate esp. throwing in the free w/clean at the end - we do the same it's a pride thing ( and can lead to a regular service.
as said only you really know if the price is too cheap - if you are happy with the time/effort for reward then no your not too cheap like Vin i'd up the price as the custy's feel it's a bargain as you should be getting around 75% you quote for at 100% success would sound like the market would take a little bit more.
timewise you will speed up as you get more experience, as 4 hrs does sound quite a long time ( but of course i cant see the houses you clean - they may have cladding & conny's etc..) for ' 1 off ' work your hourly rate needs to be higher than
what you get for run of the mill window cleaniing somewhere between £45 and £50 p/h
but regardless of that it's a cracking start for someone new to the game - well done

I take all your points on board. Being new I prefer to quote a fair price at about £35 an hour and be sure the quote gets accepted.
90% of these new customers having seen the end result then ask me to clean there windows in the future so it's a win win situation.
Because I am new I am happy to earn less on the hourly rate to get these cleans and the potential new custys that I get from this. In 3 months I have got £700 for 4-6 weekly cleans and hoping to hit the £1000-1200 by Xmas.
I might take a bit longer than you guys but I clean the custys house as if it was my own (maybe wrong some may think) but its getting attention from neighbours and great reviews from my custys. When I have more regular work then I may increase my prices.
Cheers for all advice guys

nothing wrong with what you are doing matey...i was just suggesting things to help speed up the
cleaning process for you..nothing wrong with having pride in the job you are doing,i think most start out the same attitude of cleaning the property as if it was your own...in the long haul you will more or
likely come to a middle ground where you and the customer will be happy with the work you are doing
saving your arms neck and back and most importantly your pocket :)
nothing wrong with your quoting mate...many others are doing what you are doing for far less
hope it all works for you :)
