Bomb proof really for a small cheap run around. 1.9 diesel or straight 2.0 wouldnt get a turbo more to go wrong. Check Cam belt last change and exhaust

they have the best deisel engines going, i've have had 2, the only problems i have had with the first one was a locking problem of the doors (5 attempts to get right), seat belt problem (4 attempts to get right) i have had  problems with the radio in both vans, other than that excellent, both bought from new.

Good vans, I opted for dispatch as have a 500litre tank and needed
3 seats but the newer berlingos are rated for 850kg and have 3 seats

i love mine.    make sure it sits high at the back end,if it slouches  then its been loaded to the gunnels.
standing behind the van   look at the nearside rear wheel ,if it tilts in at the top the suspensions buggered (nearside goes first )  ,quite expensive to fix

Some good advise.

The 1.9 was only non turbo and the 2.0 hdi are all turbo diesels with common rail diesel technology. Cam belt is always worth changing as you don't know it history. For our business the 800 LX is the best van as it can carry a 500 litre tank. We would have preferred a single sideloading door, which would have made access to behind the tank easier. My son's Partner has a Peugeot half height steel bulkhead and mesh upper making  access to the space behind the tank impossible.

On the latest 1.6 hdi engines both the 75hp and the 90hp engines are turbo charged to meet the then current Euro emmissions standards.

I'm not sure what the latest Berlingo's use exhaust wise, but I didn't think that the previous models had PAF filters if that is what you were referring to.

Again, I wouldn't personally buy a van with a high mileage. It must be accident free and have a full service history - main dealer is better.

Berlingos are great, very very reliable if looked after.

If you've got full service history mileage really doesn't mean that much, as long as it has not been in any accidents before. Check list for inspecting is important.

My Berlingo had 166000+ miles on it and didn't skip a beat. These engines are made to do twice that, at least. Was from 1997 and sold it for £890, with bare Purefreedom tank/cage in it.

My Dispatch has 104000 on it, from 2007 and it feels like new.
