HI all
I have just fitted a new membrane on my 4040 system and accidentally connected the untreated water in with treated water out.
Would doing this ruin my membrane?
The reason I ask is my ads was 12 now 165 :o
I have flushed, new filters and run a booster pump.
Thanks.

I don't know if it would ruin the membrane, how long did you run it the wrong way round? Thinking about it, the membrane is only a super fine filter so I shouldn't think it would destroy it. What could have happened is that raw water going through the wrong way may have left a deposit of dissolved solids on the 'wrong' side of the membrane, so initially water passing the right way through is picking up this deposit as it emerges from the membrane.
I would run it for a couple of hours, flushing for five minutes every 30 minutes and see if it improves.
What's your input TDS?

I ran it for about 10min max.
Tds in around 410.
I have flushed flushed and flushed over about 2 hours and still can't get readings down.
Pulling my hair out now........

Connecting up this way might ruin it Ian. The problem is that on a 4040 the inlet and waste are on the outside of the membrane and the pure comes from the water 'forced' through it. The instructions I was given by GAPs was that the waste valve must never be fully closed as the force of the water could 'blow the membranes. Unfortunately, rs has just done this but the other way round. That pressure, increased with his booster pump, has no escape except through those membranes.
