I am just starting out on my own, I have all the gear and ready to start. I cannot afford to buy a round at the moment so I am canvassing, but also I have heard a little bit about RENTING a round. Is this still done/done much? If so how does it work please, percentages or whatever etc.? Can this be a good way to get work? Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

I wouldn't rent, reckon it would be a right pain.

Thank you for your input guys. Just to update you, I went knocking yesterday on a road where I will be cleaning a friends windows, and I got 3 customers. I was well pleased, great feeling. I know there will be days when I get nothing but you got to take the rough with the smooth. And like I said, it felt fantastic when I got the new work. Thanks again.

Well done!
As for renting ... I did it in my early years when I wanted to go from part time to full time - I got 80% of what I cleaned and I did it for about six months. Helped tide me over while I built up my round.
Generally - if you can avoid it I would but it depends what your savings/credit/cashflow needs to be.
