Title: Unger N-Tech pole & brushes
Post by: Blue Frog Systems on August 29, 2012, 04:08:36 pm
At my local wfp supplier today and got a look at ungers new offerings while i was there.

They had one pole on show which was the unger n-tech hybrid 22ft which i will compare to the clx 22 as they are the same market and both

POLE           ACTUAL   CLOSED    WEIGHT   SECTIONS     PRICE

N-Tech 22   6.63m       6ft          1700g         4            £199 +vat
CLX22         6.37m       4'9ft        1350g         5            £117 +vat

Well the N-tech pole feels as heavy as it says and the height is without an angle adaptor or brush. The clamps are twice the size of the clx too and quite difficult to operate as you have to reach round the back to release the clamp enough. The pole did have a butt end stopper which i liked and was nicely shaped too.

I had high hopes for this pole from unger... dissapointed. I will say i have only just looked at the specs a few mins before posting, so what im typing is what i thought when i was at the shop.

The brushes arent anything to rave about either. They had a rectangular brush and a sill brush from the n-tech range in stock. Now i do like how you can change between fans or pencils (in the 6 different slots).

The first brush was a rectangular dual trim brush. I had a vikan oval mono to compare it too at hand and it didnt feel much lighter at all (and we know how heavy they are). Also the brush is missing bristles in the middle of the brush .... there just arent any there which is really odd.

The sill brush felt the same weight as the vikan oval mono and was a dual trim aswell. this had bristles all across unlike the rectangular brush, but the odd thing about this brush was that in the middle of the brush amongst the smaller bristles it had a full size row of bristles the same as the longer outer ones.

This was Ungers chance to do something, but i feel like they got to this point and gave up. We all know that weight saving plays a massive part in how much work you can do and the more weight the more risk of an injury (have injured myself with alloy equipment).

I think there are some great ideas amongst these, but they dont make the pole great

Verdict - Let Down
