Title: Adding sections to my SLX30
Post by: WCS Limited on August 27, 2012, 09:22:27 pm
Currently pricing up a larger hotel job today and im pretty sure my SLX 30 is just to short so i thought i'd look at adding the extra sections to the bottom of the pole.

So i cannot remember what i was told when i originally ordered it but am i right in thinking that to make it a Super Max 40 its just two more sections (7 and base section 8 ) but i wont be able to make it a 45 with just one more base section as the next one up is the 47 compact which is an additional two more sections from the 40??

Alex if you see this please can you enlighten me lol ;)

You've got it spot on.  Also, if you want to add just one section you can add a base section from an SL-X35.

Yes you can.  You can add a Number 7 base section from an SL-X35 or a Number 7 section and Number 8 base  section from a Super-Max40.

Hi Alex

To add these extra section do you need to remove the end cap on the bottom of the pole?

Also how many extensions can you add to a clx27 and slx35

Wait...

i have a clx 22 are you telling me i can extend that further than the 27?

when using the 22 at full extension theres quite a lot of whip in the pole, doesnt that just get worse the longer you make it?

may have some purchasing to do...  ;D

You would need to remove the end cap and then ideally add the tape joint-stop before use.

Technically you can add as many sections as you want up to 44ft (starting with the CLX27) and 47ft (starting with the SLX35ft) using sections from the Super-Max range. Realistically if you wanted to go a lot higher it would be easier and quicker to use the smaller pole on lower work and buy a separate higher level pole.

Technically you could add the base section from a CLX27 to the CLX22 and this would give you a CLX26. Of course you can carry on adding sections from the SLX-SMAX range and this would take you up to a theoretical maximum of 43ft (starting with your CLX22). Realistically this would not be a very nice pole to use though as you would have the extra flexibility of the CLX range in use at heights that it is best to only use 100% carbon poles on. It would probably be almost as cheap to go and buy yourself an SLX35 or even higher and have the two poles in use. Also having two poles in use extends the life of each pole.

Hi longserver

To turn this into a 27ft SL-X you would need to add a base section from a SL-X30.  To turn it into a 32ft SL-X you would need to add Section 6 and a base section 7 from a SL-X35.
