Had an idea for collecting, i was thinking of leaving all custy's for two clean's
before collecting, don't think this would be suited to new starts but for established
domestic cleaning think this would work. Half the collecting does anyone already do this?
-
bankruptcy comes to mind ;D
-
Yes,
A 7.50 knock would then become a 15quid knock.
-
think it would remind custys of how much they pay you and youd start getting cancells
imaging your 15 quidders having to fork over £30 each time they see you - theyd quickly bin that expense!
-
Always get custy's cancelling but always pick up new one's,
you might loose the odd few but in my opinion I doubt it would
effect an established business as I said before I don't think
it would work for start up business but the core of my business
has been going for 10 years and pretty certain most of my custy's
know how much they pay yearly for windows whether they pay every
4 weeks or 8 weeks. I also think there is more chance of getting them
on standing order due to paying after two cleans as in there mind
this will give them better chance to cancel standing order if you don't
turn up or they aren't happy ect.

It depends on whether you can afford to wait for your cash, and if the customer is happy to pay for multiple cleans.
I remember once picking up a customer who was unhappy that her previous window cleaner was too lazy to collect, because she didn't want him to run up her debt.
I have a few who owe for more than one clean, but that's mainly because I haven't found them in yet.

What you are doing is giving your customer credit. This has implication for your business. It tells the customer you are easy on payment and don`t feel payment important. You will complicate your control and push your admin costs up the customer will feel confused and think you are trying to catch them.So trust goes out the window. If they screw you you loose twice the amount. I thinks after many years business, its a crazy idea. ??? ??? ???

Don't feel payment important? confused.
Complicate your control push your admin costs up? Not sure about your admin but wouldn't push mine up.
customer will feel confused? why?
Do you work on your own slumpy?
If you need to be out every night collecting to keep on top of it I think this would work and I would save on wage and on time collecting.
Still cant' think of a negative.

We never collect. either they pay on day, bacs or send cheque. Some send payment after 2-3 cleans occasionaly someone doesnt pay but thats still cjeaper than spending time and money collecting, years ago used to spend adound half a say at weekends collecting, never again
-
Sounds great george how did you go about changing things to no collecting ?
Did you change every thing at once or slowly introduce the new methods? did you loose much custom due to change?
I have some paying by cheque / bank transfer but to be honest, to think one day I would have no collecting and still have the same amount of domestic custy's is unrealistic in my situation but you never know.
-
On sll new work i just told them. the ones that complained i offered to texy or emsil day before to ensure rhey are in or lesve money somewhere
the rest i cjanged over time. lomg time ago but cant remember losimg any

i collect 3 times a week all my work is very local most within two miles radius of my house
takes me half hour generally unless i get chatting,im owed very little
-
I quite often leave mine til I catch them in, luckily for me they all pay up no problem, I just leave a note, keep a record of how many they owe, it works well for me.

Why don't you get them to send a cheque/pay by credit transfer?

I had a customer once who was never in when i went to collect and when i did catch them it was usually 2 cleans sometimes 3 outstanding...anyway went there the one day to get 2 cleans and he said "your going to have to start collecting more regularly, its getting expensive when its 2 times", house was £8 by way (http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/Smileys/classic/rolleyes.gif)
They cant calculate its no more expensive than 1 clean, they just had it twice.
IMO not a good idea, its already been said theyl realise its an expense they probably dont need

you will lose more than you will keep did that as a milkman and poeple forget shop being lazy and get your money in weekly
