Post by: ben M on August 20, 2012, 11:03:12 am
my TDS is 14 after pre filters and RO 4040, after DI is 06, do i have to change only the resin or the pre filters too?
have two 10" pre-filters, sediment and carbon, which one is the first?

thanks.

This depends on how long you have had your prefilters in. If they have been in a while then you can't go wrong by changing everything, especially if they are 10" prefilters. If you use alot of water then you are better to change 10" prefilters more regularily, even monthly in some instances.

The carbon block/GAC filter is the most important IMHO as that prevent chlorine from damaging the r/o membrane, which on a 4040 is well over £200.

Change resin as well.

The sediment filter is the first filter and the second is the carbon block or CAG filter.

However, some have replaced the sediment filter with a carbon block filter 5 microns and the second filter is a CAG filter.

Any of the WFP suppliers sell them - but you will need to order the correct size either 10" or 20".

The 10" are more popular - ebay is full of quantity deals athough you need to ensure they are of a reputable source..

Hi Ben

No problem - sorry for not reading your first thread properly - I didn't register you have 10" filters. You need to change them a little more regularily with them being smaller.
