Title: Flow is poor and also spluttering!!!!
Post by: st teath windows on August 17, 2012, 10:33:13 am
Hi guys, after a bit of help or ideas!  as the title says my flow rate is dire and also it is spluttering(not all the time) as though there is a air lock. Yesterday it just packed in all together . i took the end of the pump apart and there was some crap there, will be buying a filter , cleaned it out and put it back together and that is when my flowrate slowed down and started spluttering. Any ideas?
Thanks Dale

The little plastic filter that makes sure no bits get into your pump. Pretty standard in most setups

You should have a Strainer/filter Before your pump
Make sure its always clean,
Also sometimes a vacuum in Tank can cause the problems you are having, vent tank somehow to allow air in as water is pumped out.
Good luck.

Spluttering is air getting in somewhere. Always have clear tube on your pole at the brush head. Then you will see the bubbles coming through.

Does it splutter when there is no hose attached to the 'out' end of your pump?

Hi Rhine,  i would say no, but when i connect the hose to it it seems to fluctuate the amount of water coming out.

Is this a new setup?is the pump lower than your water source?does sound like an air lock problem

Sounds like your pump may be knackered.

5 years isn't a bad lifespan for a pump.
But i'd check the jets and the hose connected to them cos if it isn't spluttering when disconnected, the pump sounds like ther'es some life in it yet.

On a side note, getting your prostrate checked isn't so bad, especially if your doc is a female. Like mine.  :)
