Google b301QJ and then zoom in on all four buildings.
I did not do any frame close ups but they are metal with flacking paint. When I was there I rubbed the palm of my hand over them and it left the chalky mark that normally gives you the milky rinse.
Have not been done for at least 6 years although the maintenance guy could not remember the last time
Highest would be 60' some flat roof work/access
Some steep grass banks and some overhead telephone/electrical cables that had to be taken into account.
I know its not easy, but what sort of figure first comes to mind as a one off, external only
I fooked up badly.

Nothing >:(
Jobs like that as one offs every few years are a p-take.
I once helped out on Minster College on Sheppey - every seagull for the previous ten years had used it as a loo, over and over again.
Almost impossible to know before hand how long it's going to take, and how much back-breaking work will be involved.
Go get some decent work instead.
Or book it and then sub it out ;D
-
@ Cliff perkins, thanks for the start.
Colin fair after looking at the pics.
Ian, you are right, although I did price it.
I saw it as £3200 and was told I was three times the price of who won it.
Whether that's true or not or whether my standard was too high, thus me thinking it would take longer, I will never know.
What I do know is the winner is welcome to it and I will go back to my mainly domestic work.
Bloody hard work getting this commercial right aint it.

Even if it took 1 man a week still aint bad money

In a way yes, you were the closest with that stab in the dark. But I honestly cant see how anybody would make any profit on that sort of figure.
Either that or I am so out of touch.

i agree with cliff. if you have a week to spare, then 1200 would be good money. trouble is as you say how long it would take. reckon it'd take me a few hours just to do the quote!
-
as i said in a previous post.....WALK AWAY ;D
-
My thoughts {for what they are worth} are larger companies can price this just to cover their lads wages for a few days and make their profit on their regular jobs. If you thought it would take you and one other say five eight hour days, they would have two teams of two on it for two to three days, price = £1200 plus vat.
-
I might point out its not always the cheapest quote that wins.but if its way over the cheapest you dont stand a chance.even at £1200 plus vat its not a job id do alone so would think twice about it.
2 men should get it done it 2 1/2 days which makes it more appealing.
2 much work for 1 man in my eyes but doable.
-
When we're quoting schools we always push for longer days, ie access 7am-6pm, then £1000 for a couple of days work isn't bad at all
