I've been offered 2 flat surface cleaners at a very reasonable Price, both for
Less than the price of one second hand unit. Both 18", one a whirlaway and the other unbranded. Both cleaners have been sat in a lock up For 12 months and when being used the arm will stop. Jets work fine and when you release the trigger and try again it spins and then stops. Is this damage or just lack of use, would a Strip down and oil cure this?
It's just strange as both cleaners have exactly the same problem.
Thanks.

These the ones off ebay? Just ended yesterday?
Dont know much about them if im honest. does it sound like its hitting something when it stops spinning? Have you tried greasing it with a grease gun?
-
yes there the one matt.
i have not bought them yet so have not tryed anything is jsut had the seller on the phone while he was testing them out as its a few hours trip for me and didnt want to waste my time if they are dead. it just seems off there both doing the same and have both been sat unused for the last year. just makes me think they have tightended up form lack of used and could be striped greased and then rebuilt for very good price.

Sounds like a headache to me ,best leave them

very common problem. turn it over so you can see the rotor arm then fire it up on lowish revs press the trigger and you will see the arm move and then stop so release the trigger. repeating this process you will see the arm gradually move further and further each time untill it starts spinning properly.

that maybe sounds positive, thanks ged

so i picked up the cleaners on saturday. 1 whirlaway and 1 tech clean.
today i spent a hour with the whilraway. turned upside and soaked in WD40 to loosed everything. then tripped down and greased and put back together. fired up the washer and.................... we have 1 working whirlaway. working as it should and cleaning well. over the moon with the result. will have a bash at the tech clean surface cleaner at the weekend but i think it should be fine also.
all in all its looking like a blooming good bargain ;D
