I have a prochem steempro powermax that needs new vacs and pump - it hasn't been used for two years and the vacs are rusting and the pump has a slight leak. The lamb vacs & shurflo are expensive, do I have to bite the bullet and buy these brands, or are there cheaper alternatives that are as reliable?

Hi Carl
You could have a chat with woodbridge commercial for parts,
but I have just taken a powermax as p/x on a machine sale
it is in full working order with a new pump fitted,
I will sell the machine for £450
cheers Alan

Chances are the pump is fine and its a loose jubilee clip or something, if the vacs run ok why not change the brushes??
Im only an hour away if you would like me to service / repair the machine just give me a ring.

It's dead simple. Do a search on the forum and there is a thread on how to change brushes on U Tube. It's dead easy as that is what is probably wrong. have a look inside the motor and then you can go from there. The pump cannot be a big deal either. If you have to replace them all then at least you know it's brand new. The rest of it is a big piece of plastic........go on have a go at least you will learn!

I checked the jubilee clips but the leak is deffo coming from under the pump, as the machine is a cheap one I want to do the work on this myself, but thanks anyway Mark.
Alan wish I had knew you had that machines two weeks ago, I wouldn't have bought this one.
The vacs work fine, but the machine wasn't used for two years and both have got a little rusty and one is sparking a little more than I would like. Going to buy the vacs and keep the ones I take out as spares (will do the brushes on these if I can get rid of the rust)
Thanks for the advice
Carl
