Title: ionics grafter 32
Post by: Ryan @ Transparent, Carlisle on August 07, 2012, 09:46:24 pm
Picked up one of these today for DIRT CHEAP

however, the clamps "slide" off their positions.... (which i knew about before buying) what is the best way to glue them back down? Araldite?

Although, technically the pole is "broken" it was picked up at a price not to be sniffed at, and its only 7 months old.

Thanks

You lucky B......  ::)
I have a Grafter 24 and I'm very pleased with it (but I paid full retail for it - they are quite well priced though)
Have you tried giving Ionic a ring to see what they would recoment?

look up the glue that gardiners sell on thier website the pink and green stuff, that seems to hold the clamp, make sure you sand all the old crap off first to get a nice bond

I've got a grafter 32 and the clamps coming off is a real problem anyway.

I used rapid araldite. 2 months on and the two clamps that came loose are still ok.

The problem is caused by grit from the hose inside the pole getting wedged between the pole and clamp and when the pole gets extended, it puts stress on the clamp in the wrong direction.

I took Tosh's advise and I now use the pole with the hose on the outside. It's much much easier.
