Title: PPE Safety Equipment
Post by: david@zap-clean on August 03, 2012, 07:04:55 am
I haven't yet obtained any PPE (Personal Protection Equipment: goggles, respirator, gloves).

Can I ask you what type you recommend for carpet cleaning?
There's a lot of choice and I'm unsure which is best.  I don't want to scare the customer!

David, you'll probably find that not many carpet cleaners use PPE that often even though many of the products and situations they find themselves dealing with demand it.
Your product safety data sheets will tell you what kind of protection you require.
At the very least you need a respirator for use when applying protetcors or using solvent spotters.
Nitrile disposable gloves should really be worn when handling any chemicals. Still can't believe how many people don't wear gloves especially when cleaning upholstery. You are dealing with these chemicals on a daily basis and failing to protect yourself from them can lead to a build up in your system.

I didn't think to check the data sheets - thanks John.
