I have just picked up my first mansion. I counted 49 Georgian windows plus a conservatory and orangerie. I quoted £250 in and out and got it. I ought to be pleased but instead I am filled with worry I have underpriced it. I know the way these things go. After a couple of hours I will be stressing over my hourly rate and whether I am being paid the rate I want.
The thing is this though that my round isn't full anyway, so even if it takes a day and a half, so what? Do others get this way?

That is so weird I just priced up a £3m house this morning. 57 Windows no conservatory. Quoted £120 exterior first clean and then £60 a month.
Now thinking sh*t was that too cheap. If I get it bonus, if not then not gonna worry. Could actually be a pain in the bum

is this a one off, or a regular clean

One off, but will offer regular once finished. They have them done annually atm but couldn't get hold of the guy that usually does it.

i would say dont worry straight away. it takes me about 3 or 4 cleans before i get the best and quickest method of cleaning the property. its only after the 3rd or 4th time that you should be worried if youre not meeting your hourly rate.

this is very very true ... picked up a large nursing home internals only 6 months ago ... they get done every other and a mate does the outsides ... first time took nearly all day but know I know my way around and the best way around took me 3 1/2 hours last visit.

The thing is , we know we can do a £10 front x 10 of them faster then prob that house and if one of the fronts mess us about it aint so bad , but when you do larger houses if they become messers, its a big problem, personally i wouldnt give a customer £250 worth of credit i used to in the past, not anymore not worth the agro,
simply say that you are selling them your services and will do your best however you can not please everyone and due to a few bad expiriences you now take payment upfront paying upfront doent void them to a reclean of certain windows should it require it but you are the final decision maker in the standard of the clean this is in order to protect yourself from the OCD customers.
after the first 2x they pay you upfront then they will be given credit the least i would go is 50% then 50% (and thats only if i had a very good vibe), if they cant understand that you are going to spend most the day there and your rules considering its the first time you have worked for them, and refuse to pay a certain amount upfront i would simply walk.
back to your £15 all rounders gate opened ,easy life... get ripped off for £15 compared to half a day or a full days work inside cleans too no thanks

If you want a hand steve let me know.
I did a large job the other day over 100 windows i quoted him £230 in and out and i got it for £200 in the end with some more work so took the cut.
Half way around the outside i thought poop why did i drop the price should have priced it higher,i wont do it again by myself as it took me about 6 hours and was a right pain to do the 1st time as hadnt been done for over a year.
He seemed happy though.
I was shattered.lol

Sounds like you've been stiffed a few times - certainly getting cynical but I think you've got a point there.
I'm beginning to be far less trustful unfortunately. Don't know what is happening but people seem to be more difficult to deal with.
Like the one I had the other day with the phone calls. Second time I have cleaned them and the first time I have cleaned them WFP. First time paid cash straight away.
"Oh I've seen your leaflet I prefer to pay online if that's O.K. I'll do it tonight"
Hour later I get the phone call - so I cleaned them again with the "Oh it's not about not wanting to pay you."
Another phone call that evening cleaned the patio doors and two bays for the third time the next morning! "Oh it's not about not wanting to pay you."
Still waiting!
Next thing I bet - won't get paid - "Oh by the way we've got another window cleaner!"
Think I'm getting cynical.

Cheers Cliff. These haven't been done since April last year, but it's in a village and off the road so they aren't too bad. All Georgian with secondary, but they are not too grubby from what I saw.
Bought a few extra polishing microfibres and hoping to whizz through them with a squirt of pure.
