How can you tell if its a genuine honda engine? Does it have something stamped into the block? I know the yanmars have L100 or whatever model it is stamped into the block. so how can you REALLY tell with all the fake hondas kicking around?
-
Its got Honda on the block :o The only trouble is you need to see it before you buy it. The Locins don't seem too bad but the real cheap snides made by those beansprout scoffers are really carp and must be avoided. I would'nt buy a petrol unless its only used for short jobs given the price of petrol

This one thats just come up local to me is diesel. honda. When i asked for a bit more info all he said was its a honda diesel 3600 psi machine. just wanted to know what to look for if i decide to see it. Not sure if i want a honda though.
-
It wont be a honda diesel copy, the chinese never copied the diesels mate, if it's a honda diesel, ie gd411 410, 320, 321 then it defo a honda and wont be a copy mate, have you got a picture?

emailed you a pic mate, cant get it to upload here. not even sure its a honda to be honest. Looks to me like a Yanmar with the air filter.
He wants £800 for it but like i said, not sure i want a honda as they can be expensive to repair.
EDIT: got the pic to work i think

Could be a yanmar ...diesel Honda,s are usually all silver . I think it is chinese poope it just has that look about it!
-
That is definately not a honda mate, its either a yanmar or a chinese copy of a yanmar ie changfa 186f, by the look of the frame it is a titan pro or something similar, maybe a jetmac, a quick way to tell is the sticker behind the cooling veins, or even the throttle control, although the throttle controls on genuine yanmars sometimes break and are replaced with aftermarket throttle controls so thats never a dead cert... defo not a honda diesel though mate, hes telling you lies straight away
-
Just noticed the cowling where the pull start is red, if it was a genuine yanmar it should be grey, stay away, or offer him 250 at best! even if you do get it for 250 the pump will not do anywhere near 200bar @ 15 litres, ive tried a few and theyre no where near what they say pressure wise... steer clear mate.
-
Thats what i thought. My yanmar which is f***ed has the grey cowling. I thought it might be a cheap ripoff due to the frame and the big instruction sticker near the handle..
Might still go and have a look at it as its only down the road from me.. hopefully it will have the ''L100'' stamped into the block and ill be laughing when i knock him down to £500 or, does the changfa crap have it stamped too? just to fool us? :o
Just got told about it and was told it had only been used twice, and didnt think the chinese ripped off the diesels much.
Cheers pal..

if its a changfa it will have like a white sticker saying L186F or it may be a smaller 7hp whichn will say L168F or similar, if its a yanmar it will have a black sticker saying yanmar l100 then maybe Ae de2yc or similar, also look for yanmar cagiva, SPA, changfa are usualy white stickers

I've had a yanmar snide from jetmac, they're shiite. It had a comet pump on it, worst £900 I've ever spent.
-
Yeah i wont be parting with any cash unless its genuine.
