Most suppliers sell an insecticide to clear the house of fleas.

hi,
recently i was talking to a repeat customer she tol me that the year before when i cleaned her carpet she had been looking after her daughters dog and it had left fleas behind she tried everything to get rid of them and she said they dissapperded after i cleaned her carpets.

i only extraction cleaned them in the normal way, i do recall her telling me to do parts thoroughly were they was.

i think it may have been presray.

HWE should kill most of them off, however Chemspecs microban is excellent but expensive.

Hi Guys,

I sourced my own supply of Pemethryn 25%w/w which was excellent and less than half the price of Extracta's.

Cheers

Hi Doug

Is Pemethryn safe for use with people still in the buliding?

Hi Gavin,

Unless they changed the rules as this was the active ingredient in most suppliers products.

Would be worth looking into.

Cheers

Doug

Its permethrin but read this before deciding to use it ???

“ It appears children may be more sensitive to permethrin than adults. Permethrin is almost 5 times more acutely toxic to 8-day-old rats than it is to adult rats.”

Just had some advice from prochem regarding fleas...
appearently, you can extraction clean the carpet with whatever, and this only starves the fleas of food from the carpet, hence they move on to other parts of the house...or indeed someone else ;D...therefore it is recommended that a professional fumigator be deployed firstmost to do the whole premises.....

Maybe thats because prochem don't have a product to kill fleas ::)

I did think of that steve...solutions are based in cornwall and their carriage rates are just too much in my book..I've had one of their products before, and I'm sorry, but it didn't impress me..Further, I have in the past left 4 messages for Nick to call us back on an urgent matter, and 8 months later, he still hasnt. If they had an outlet in the home counties, maybe they would fare better. Enough said......  I did think of just doing an extraction, however if the fleas do, as stated migrate elsewhere(and you cant speak for every flea in the country), then who gets the blame? ME....Ironically, the customer has thanked me for being so honest and wants to book me for after the fumigation :)

If it was so urgent why did you not contact Nick direct

Scott,

I used to do this type of work but found most of the products ineffective.

I then found the 25%w/w permethryn which worked.

The fleas are relatively easy to kill , but it is important that a residual insecticide remains in the carpet to kill the new fleas which hatch from the eggs.

HWE in my experience does not kill the fleas.

I have not done anything like this recently , would probably recommend using a dedicated company.

Cheers

Doug

Doug

Thats ok...not slagging him off...just telling it as it was..First impressions last, and all that..If it was anyone else, i'm sure they would think the same...If I was to run a business like that,,I wouldnt have one left.

scott sorry to hear of your bad experience with nick . i personally have had no problems with him or the company when i order anything its there within a couple of days and im not charged delivery i always thought that the price i pay for the chemicals was inclusive.

Scott,

If this flea job has not been done, I would give Nock another try.

I agree with you carriage charges on small orders are high, which makes it hard to experiment.

But Nick does have to make a profit.

Perhaps you were trying to contact him when the company was on the move

Regards

Ian

I personally cannot believe the experience that you have had with nick at Solutions, I called him this morning for some advise and he returned my call within 10 minutes.

Scott

I know that a few month's ago they had some problems with there phone lines not sure if thats why Nick did not answer his phone but it seems to me that your the one losing out here mate not Nick as your losing out on work that you can charge more for than carpet cleaning! and all you do is spray the NoInsect around the room and walk out  ;D in the summer I do lots of this in offices, Hotels etc in Cardiff town, my point is once you got your foot in the door you can pick up lots of other work! Just my opinon tho  ;)

Regards Gavin

Title: Re: fleas

its exactly that you spray the no insect all over the carpet [ i did the beds as well] and walk away . though i would recomend cleaning the carpet first then spraying. as i stated before i did thids several weeks ago and i see the woman most days and she has had no return of the little blighters
