for those of you who have got both or used both can you tell us what the difference is?and are the extremes worth the extra money?

I have both poles and I would say the extreme is way lighter but I would say the slx is better value for money easy and it can take more of a battering for daily use . I use the extreme when really tired but use the slx as the main every day work horse ;)

When you get one you will kick yourself for not getting one sooner!,
It will most likely increase your hourly rate,easily justifying its cost.
Then there are the health/wear and tear benefits for your own well-being.
It is borderline insanity not to have one.
Alex Gardiner is far too modest about them,but those that have them are not.If you get one don`t tell anyone how good they are,you do not want your competitors using them.

Perfect example of borderline insanity"i use the extreme when really tired" or put another way, "i have a heavier pole,i use it so i get really tired".

Going from a slx to an Xtreme is like going from a clx to an slx.

cheers lads!i dont think ill be buying an extreme pole anytime soon though as plenty of life left in my SLX!I have spent a fair bit of money on poles over the last few years!
streamline fibreglass 20ft pole(crap) £120
brodex hydra 25ft pole(crap) £150
CLX 22ft pole(v.good value) £150
SLX 25ft pole(superb) £350
SUPERMAX 40ft pole(good) £575
£300 on brushes,£140 on aqua-daptors,£150 on goosenecks/adaptors.
nearly £2000 on poles/adaptors and brushes alone in just over 2 years WFP!!! :o :o :o
the first 2 poles i bought were a waste of money in hindsight.the fibreglass jobbie i binned.the hydra is just gathering dust in my storage space.the CLX is an emergency "back up" pole and the SLX and SUPERMAX are what i carry in my van and use.
i have 3 carbon goosenecks with sill brush soft,sill brush medium and extreme brush respectively which get used regularly.i also have a battered sl dt flocked standard and sl dt mono which is still in good nick,a couple of vikans and a brodex brush,various angle adaptors etc.
i think when i do eventually buy an extreme i wont go back to the SLX or CLX.
I THINK I NEED TO GO TO CAR BOOT SALE WITH ALL MY OLD WFP EQUIPMENT!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I was at Gardiner's some time ago and even though the Xtreme is only 100 grams(?) lighter, you can really feel it, mainly because the rigidity is so high, having less of a lever action, so feels quite a bit lighter.
The only thing I couldn't really test is how well it works on residential, the mid way clamp points seem just right, but haven't been able to test it in real life. Will still get one in time though, but wanting to make the Mk1 SL-X last as long as possible for now.

Agree that the extreme is better but it is like driving a ferrari everyday just to run a few errands !I seem to use the slx more as it just feels right ?!? ;)

james when i get an extreme itll get used and abused and hammered every day!im not investing in a £600 pole thats ultra light to just use it now and again!!
the whole point for me is to keep strain to a minimum.reduce chances of RSI in future years and maybe fit a few more jobs in some days without feeling my arms are gonna drop off!! ;) ;D ;D ;D

That's the right way to go about things Daz. To be honest, I don't even look after my poles as good as I should do & they get some right hammer! I don't mind spending the dollars on poles & brushes at all- what you get in return with the best ones FAR outweighs the cost!
It's like these who buy ultralight carbon road cycles & then revert to an old steel/alloy one in winter ??? ??? What you paid the money for?
Anyhow, you'll appreciate the Xtreme if you buy one mate. ;)

Used the extreme today and I think I will use it more now as I feel less tired and was quicker using it than the slx. The slx is still a great pole though but like you say may as well use the extreme more if it cost so much ;D

i have the extreme 25 and use it every day. i dont find it fragile at all, its fallen on the floor loads of times and nothings broken. probably will have to replace the top section before the year is out what thats fine.
i dont know why you would ever use any other pole. you have it in your hands all day, it is the most important piece of equipment to do your job. it reduces the risk of injury and doesnt tire you out as quick as a heavier pole. spending that extra 2, 300 quid on a pole is really spending that money on yourself.

I've been using the xtreme 18 & 25 for over a year now. It still amazes me just how rigid and light they are. Yes the slx is a good pole but the xtreme is in a different league. For me using an slx now would be a bit like trying to clean window when your pump is playing up, you can still do the job, it's just frustrating that you can't go faster. If you can afford it then spend the extra cash on the extreme. I also think it will outlast the slx wear wise.

I think there is a certain amount of money you need to be earning weekly before you get the extreme pole,about £12.
