Title: Opinions on my web site please

Just going for a bit of a revamp on web site getting around 150 visitors per month but not getting them to call or respond so i can convert them.

Any little changes or tweaks that you think may help would be appreciated.

get yersel in to clean "Howards" and then put pictures on the site.....

you will get all the YRA crowd then...  ;D ;D ;D

Also you have "offers" however the public don't seem to know what to compare the offers with... I didn't see any normal type prices... Also (sorry) there is no sense of urgency for them to pick up the phone ie the offer is only for a limited time etc..

2 things that create sales NEED  and URGENCY if you can incorporate those things in your landing page then you are halfway there.

You need to get someone to write it for you so that it is clear and concise.
You need to take the opportunity a website affords you to tell the customer what they want to hear and not what you want to tell them, which is quite different.
Whether you use Craftex products or Prochem machines means nothing to them. You mention you use blue chip companies but don't name them.
Have before and after pictures and 'show, don't tell!'
Use 'keywords' quality, service, guarantee, insured etc
And key phrase, 'dry in hours - not days.' '100% satisfaction or it's free' etc.

You have to have a USP, unique selling proposition, something that you have that others don't, so that there is only one choice - you.
People are wary about carpet cleaners and have heard all the horror stories of what can go wrong, so take that negative and turn it into a positive by telling them how and why they are in safe hands when they choose you. Some people are just looking for the cheapest, but the vast majority are looking for someone to trust, you earn their trust and you'll get the job and a website is a fantastic platform to make that happen, but you've got to look at it from a customer's perspective.

thanks have someone who is revamping it so will pass these comments on.

Must admit the web is not the be all and end all for us as mainly driven by commercial work these days. especially lettings work but i am very concious not to put all the eggs in one basket and would like to run a third set up to free me to develop the business.

The structure needs looking at and the copy needs to be a lot more specific.

When someone lands on the homepage they see four large clickable offers. Fine

Say I was interested in upholstery cleaning, I would click on that graphic, expecting to be sent to a specific page about upholstery cleaning.

The trouble is I end up on a general page which says exactly the same things as everyone else (latest equipment, fully insured etc). Most things seem to be vague (see Simon's comment about Blue chip companies).

This could be why people are leaving.

Apart from it looks a bit old fashioned and too busy (less is more), your real problem is your assumptions.

You are assuming that you have had 150 qualified 'visitors' I can tell you that's not the case.

You are assuming 150 means you should get more than 1 call from it if you spruce up the site - not necessarily.

My suggestion would be to put your energies into getting more traffic. Get more visitors across more keywords with each page focused on a keyword. Don't let one page be all things to all men.


Over time you could have 10/20 pages with a small call rate on each that adds up to a decent return.

Take a closer look at your Google analytics.
