As above,
Has anybody done this or paid for an employee to do this?
If so, what are the costs and procedures involved?
Cheers,
Dean.

I could be totally wrong but I though abseiling was more complicated than just a course. After passing don't you have to work 1000 hours with a level 2 or 3?

no the wife ::)

I'd be interested in this if it was free!! May aswell get on jobseekers they'll probably pay for it for ya!!

Irata level 1 is about £600 + vat
But you have to work supervised For
x amount of hours,
Then to level 2 wich I thinks is the same price
Then you can work in your own once have have
Done enough hours
This is how I remember the details but they may not
Be bob on!!
There's a company near you dean I'm sure
-
Cheers Colin,
I think the company near to me is spantec.
Drinking tonight Gav?

Dean there is a place outside of Stafford in Eccleshall that do abseiling ... a guy i used to work with, his son used to go all around the country doing all sorts of jobs. They also do training

It takes a lot of time. It's easier to post a link than explain it.
It's not something you can do full full time to start with.

Spanset even

Thanks JP.

No probs Dean. I wanted to do it as i love abseiling but the cost of the course at the time (about 8yrs ago) was out of my limit and there was no guarenteed work there if i passed. I think if your not getting this kind of work regular enough then its not worth putting someone through as you would have to employ a trainer for the first x amount of hours.

I'm probably too old to do abseiling (although I did quite a bit when I was in the forces), but wouldn't it be a good idea to check on insurance before thinking about a course/training.

Hi Dean
In my former window cleaning business which I had prior to 2004 in Bradford I had a few guys trained to Irata level 1 - 5 day course - easy enough - bought equipment - got them work to clean................
They daren't go over the side of the building - even when we hired in Irata level 3 (which you will need) guy to tie ropes etc
My advice would be.
First make sure the guys are OK with cradle (all mine were)
Then either bite the bullet and train them up (I won't do that again)
Sub contract the work out (that's what I do now)
Hope this helps

Hi Dean,
Dave and Andy have both done the Spanset course!
Both really enjoyed it!
Give them a call! :)
