I am looking for a good before and after picture to put on the back of the van. My pics don't seem have that wow factor. the picture quality just doesn't show the difference there actually is. Any budding David baileys out there

Now let's be sensible the poor chap is asking for our help!!
Tom you will find it dificult to locate a good before & after photo as they need to high dpi to be able to be blown up to an acceptable size .
Best get an off cut and make your own

It was the Goon Ying Tong song- and I remember it first time round.

Yiddle eye po Mike. Good idea. Out to the garage and destroy a piece of carpet.
-
If you do it right Tom..
you can have a before and after without having to clean it...
just dirty 1 side, covering up the other...
;D ;D ;D

OK I'll ask the obvious question. If you're a carpet cleaner, surely you have many opportunities to take your own photos? Why do you need someone else's?!
-
Have it on a not the 9 o'clock news lp, scratched to jiggery now though, used to have loads of Tony hancock too, may explain why I am a bit dark sometimes ;D

Or simply photograph a nice new shiny carpet, now dirty it to the extent you wish and photograph that. Change them around and there's your before and after :o
Another trick of the trade out the window ;D

Photoshop?

Jim Said, OK I'll ask the obvious question. If you're a carpet cleaner, surely you have many opportunities to take your own photos? Why do you need someone else's?!
Yup...I find it quite bizarre!
Do you also want someone else to stick them on for you? ::)

Having a picture and having a really good quality picture are two differen things !
-
I have lots of pics ,but unfortunatly because of the pixel issue when blown up to the size i wanted for my van, they were not suitable, the sign writer got me a cple from istock photos which of course had to be paid for .

As i said Jim and carpet guy. I have photo's but the picture quality does not show the true difference. So options. Buy nice camera and wait for the right clean to turn up or ask my fellow colleagues for assistance. Its not rocket science and yes i am a carpet cleaner all be it a novice by your standards Jim.

Hi Tom...
In actual fact it's incredibly difficult to take a good before and after picture.
In most cases the light is just not right to demonstrait the contrast and most pictures just don't show the cleaning effect due to light conditions no matter what camera you have.
If you'v got a reasonable digital camera or smart phone, I'd take it out every day and wait till the light is just right to capture the difference of a heavily soiled carpet or upholstery.
I still take my camera out once in a while in the hope of catching a good photo. Most of them (thinking they were great at the time) are completely useless when viewed on the PC.

Exactly my problem Carpet Guy. Just impatient to get the new van sign written. Its on hold waiting for a tasty pic. Plan B me thinks. Now where did i put it

Realistically, you are not going to get "perfect" conditions unless you create them.
You either need studio lighting or "enhance" the shots in post production (Photoshop or the like).
The live footage in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiPQeHkOwxo was shot in what can best be described as semi darkness.
The main adjustments done via the editing software was the white balance (really important for colour reproduction) and a general brightening of the footage (nearly all done on brightnesss rather than contrast).
One way or another, you are going to have to "fiddle" it.
