Title: Van Insurance
Post by: SimonSherwood on July 16, 2012, 05:04:22 pm
I've upgraded my water tank from a 600 litre to an 800 and it's pushed my premium up by £1500 :(

Where do you all get your insurance from?

Thanks,
Simon

Is that with one of the so called "specialists" for our industry? Try a normal broker or anyone that isnt going to bend you over at the first oppertunity!

I hope you find a more reasonable quote....Im sure you will.

insurance is the biggest con going , the goverment will have to step in ,  why when you have no claims in a year and you get your renewal it goes up about  £60  , And when you look on a compare site you find the same insurance company is £60 cheaper , you ask them they say will do it at that price  .  CON ARTIST ALL OF THEM

A Van is for carrying the tools of your trade in, as far as im concerned you should be able to carry ANYTHING as long as you are within the payload.

Correct! ;)

However, too many "expert window cleaners" have convinced the crooks of the need to hike our premiums!

I once claimed for a stolen carpet cleaner, that I had locked up in my outside shed thats is attached to the building.

I had to fight the insurance company for over a year, while they tried to get off paying, and one of the reasons they used was because I did not say I was keeping worke related equipment in the shed.

The maximum that could payout was £1000 the machine was worth over £2000, I did win in the end but the hassle was not worth it, now I tell them everything and insist I record what I say to them, just in case they start wiggling again.

and they did the following year, I got burgled and lost over £20k, they said that they had declined to renew my insurance even though they had been collecting my direct debits payments, I went to the ombusman and lost but I did get my premiums back :P
