Hi
Just wondered what I should have as a minimum, I was looking at crystal green as a extractor fuid
and multi pro for a pre spray, I am mainly doing domestic houses at this stage, I know it might be an idea to have some
selection of stain removers.
Its so daunting with so many chemicals to choose from, and I know different carpets have different ones, but
as a general average what would be the main chemicals what would do most carpets.
If you were starting out what would you buy just to start you off?
Many thanks for any advice.

p.s using a prochem 2100rx machine.
-
Why only Prochem?
There are many other products out there that may suit you as well or better.
I use one companies products mainly.
I have 2 general carpet solutions and 4 spotters all safe products to use.
If they cannot get it clean then we are in the 'black arts' of stain removal with risk to the carpet.

well prochem is the only one i really know of at present, what company do you recommend then for chemicals
they might even be cheaper. I only thought prochem as i have the prochem machine and someone told me thier chemicals were pretty good as well, but being a newbie i'm not sure where else to look.

I'll put my hard hat on here and say if I was starting off and unsure what was good or not, you could do a lot worse than ordering a sample pack from Solutions - £60 inc vat & delivery, and if you spend £150&VAT within 60 days you get the £60 refunded. It's got presprays, detergents, and some stain treatments.
Otherwise buying chemicals only to find you can't get on with them can get quite expensive.

whats web addy of solutions?

cheers, so do you use all thier chemicals for carpet cleaning then? just had a look at the site looks good. what main extracor one do you use?

If you want Prochem stuff:
Power burst for a heavy prespray,
Double clean for general use,
Stain pro for most stains,
Citrus Gel for heavy stains, gum, tar, oil, etc
Fibre & fabric rinse,
Liquid woolsafe,
Multipro can be used as a less heavy prespray or as an extraction chemical,
always handy to have a bit of contract carpet deodoriser.
For sanitizing, something like Clensan.

If you're just starting out and want Prochem stuff, you could do a lot worse than giving John Kelly from Restormate a call - he stocks Prochem stuff and is good for advice & guidance.

Are the only prochem chems i'd recomend.
-
ok cool, what about the other company mentioned, maybe im being very naive think prochem stuff is the only products to use? The other firm in this thread seems ok I was going to try out the sample pack first, trouble I have is lack of experiance which means whatever i start using I will prob think its good as have nothing to compare it will hence why I am digging for more info from you guys who have more experiance than me.

Prochem supply a great range of chemicals and equipment. Their range of spotters are second to none. For carpet cleaning go for the following.
Prochem Pure Clean. Great product and cost effective. Can be used effectivly on carpets and upholstery
Prochem PowerBurst. This will tackle even the dirtiest of carpets.
Prochem Fibre & Fabric Rinse.
Prochem Clensan
The list goes on and on. Unlike some other chemical brands mentioned Prochem work and work well. You wont be left thinking......Would another chemical do a better job.........Go for Prochem you wont be disappointed.

thanks rich
I have the prochem machine twin vac with I think a 150psi if not its at least 100psi he said he had another pump put in i cant remember what it was now but i know its min of 100 which is fine to start me off the condidtion of the machine is bang on looks new.
I know its not as powerful as some others but I can upgrade it, thats not a prob. Just need quality chemicals to use, but whats cost effective, Im still doing window cleaning but with the weather ive had enough so starting this up as well going to write another post soon as I am thinking carpets which the right marketing might be better profits than window cleaning.

Shockwave as a prespray and final phase (acidic rinse) as an extraction rinse in the machine. (Both from World of Clean) These 2 chems will last you ages mate. Craftex rust remover is brilliant for the rust marks under radiators. The Prochem one is crap. Prochem Solvall Spotter, Stain Pro, and Citrus Gel are also very good. Odour Fresh as a deodoriser and Clensan as a sanitiser. That all you should need.

A big thank you to all on here who have given me advice saved me hours of time using different chemicals and wasting a lot of money.
Thank you so much all of you. And wish you all the best in your busineses.

Dean
I wish you luck.
I started with a Prochem machine and have used pretty much only prochem chemicals for nearly 14 years. So regard the rest of my comments with my prejudiced view in mind. (There again you may want to ask yourself why I have stuck with one range.)
It's a personal choice thing at the end of the day. However I would say that if you concentrate with one particular supplier you will get to know their chemicals well and what can and can't be achieved.
I'm sure if you chop and change you may find that in one instance a diffenret supplier's chemicals work magic. But if you go down that route you may find yourself full of doubt wondering "if only I had tried a.n. other supplier's chemical I might have got the dirt/stain out".
Personally I prefer to stick with what I know then I can talk with confidence to clients about what can/can't be achieved.
I'm sure there is probably not that much difference between the end result using any one of all the major suppliers of chemicals. If there was then it would permanently change the market. Some results will just be down to you machinery and how good you are as a cleaner not the "magic bullet" of a particular chemical.
