How good are these 2 together? Getting my chemicals from prochem supplier is dat a good or bad things? :)

Hi Marcus
In my opinion Crystal Green is quite an old style chemical (I didn't think they made it anymore!). What are you doing, domestic, commercial or a bit of both? A popular combo going down the Prochem route is to pre-spray with something like Powerburst (Pre-spray Gold for wool) and then put Fibre and fabric rinse into your tank. Where does the Cleansan come in as this is not a cleaner it is more of a deodoriser?
Regards
Tim

You can't mix clensan with anything else
-
I had to look them up
crystal green is your typical generic carpet cleaning detergent ...
sodium carbonate , a builder (edta) , a strong base , and surfactant .
wouldn't say its 'old style ' though as most brands have that combo in their range.
clensan is a disinfectant / deodorizer
so , if you wanted to use both , i would clean the carpet first with crystal green
once rinced use the clensan if you think necessary .

Yeah you can Billy just put it in a jug and then put another chemical in the jug. There you go, you have mixed it. :)

;D ;D ;D ;D

crystal green is quite a specialist powder, being non ionic it is formulated to break down the metabolic structure of grease and does so very effectively. Not reccommended for use on wool. Ph12 so needs to be neutralised. cost limits it as an everyday cleaner. Never without it on the van but not used that often.
To clean carpets effectively you need to prespray + agggitate before extraction.

The formulation of Clensan has changed, though I can't recall how. You could in the past mix Clensan with either crystal green or fibre & fabric rinse as a final rinse and deodorizer in one step. Damn shame because the system worked on many occasions in some nasty situations. The process now is to clean, treat with Cleansan, then rinse after 15 mins. So complex I don't bother with it any more.

I could be wrong but I thought they'd changed the formulation of CG not Clensan.
As I've still got a full unused tub of 'old' CG I could mix it with Cleansan, which you can't do with the 'new' stuff.
But as you say, too much trouble when compared with the present stuff on the market .

Would not swear to it Neil, but i'm sure the problem is Clensan as you can not mix it with F&F rinse either. I believe it had something removed (or added) that when dried left a residue.
Need a Prochem professor ;D

If you want something left behind to sanitise/deodorise after HWE, what the hell is the point of using it to extract with? You'll be pulling most of it back out of the carpet. Far better to clean with the chems you need to get the cleaning part done, then post-spray your sanitiser.

When Clensan could be used with F&F rinse or CG it worked perfectly well and was really useful. As it is now (cleaning, spray, dwell, rinse with water) It still works but as a process I agree useless.

If you used cleansan, since the change, what product would you now recommend.

Kill Odour plus from Chemspec, or use an enzyme pre-spray

There is a compatability chart from prochem, follow the link and it's on page 11. It's handy to know what you can mix.

Dated 2007, maybe a bit out of date if the formula has changed. To either product

Good point Paul. I emailed Prochem and this is the reply:
"Yes, you are right to ask as there have been some changes since 2007. In fact we no longer issue the Chemical Compatibility Chart and the general rule of thumb is NOT to mix chemicals unless specifically mentioned that you can do so on the labels. For example, additives such as Citra-Boost or Odour Neutraliser can be mixed with pre-sprays and extraction detergents as mentioned on the label. One mix that we no longer advocate is Clensan with Fibre & Fabric or Crystal Green. Clensan should now be used on its own and never mixed with other chemicals.
Sometimes it is possible to use one chemical OVER another. For example when you put down Stain Pro you can then spray Fibre & Fabric Rinse on top of it to neutralise.
If in doubt you can consult product labels on our web site. here is the link: http://www.prochem.co.uk/safety_data_sheets.htm If you don't find the label instructions on the Safety Data Sheet then it will be on the Product Specification Sheet as we are in the process of changing all the SDSs to a new format to meet industry requirements.
Thank you for mentioning that to me. I will try to get a note added to the Cleaning Specialist page about Chemical Compatibility."

The reason i mentioned the two together was that the prochem supplier recommended in doing this. People must be sick answering this question but wat general day to day pre spray is the best and wat rinse is the best i have bought prochem chemicals but wud like other peoples views on this? ;D
